摘要: A system and method for decoding an unknown automotive controller area network (“CAN”) message definitions. CAN data vehicle signal mappings are typically held in secret and varied by automotive model and year. Without knowledge of the mappings, the wealth of real-time vehicle data hidden in the automotive CAN packets is uninterpretable—impeding research, after-market tuning, efficiency and performance monitoring, fault diagnosis, and privacy-related technologies. This technology can ascertain the CAN signals' boundaries (start bit and length), endianness (byte ordering), signedness (binary-to-integer encoding) from raw CAN data. This allows conversion of CAN data to time series. Interpreting the translated CAN data's physical meaning and finding a linear mapping to standard units (e.g., knowing the signal is speed and scaling values to represent units of miles per hour) can be achieved for many signals by leveraging diagnostic standards to obtain real-time measurements of in-vehicle systems. The system and method can be integrated into lightweight hardware enabling an OBD-II plugin for real-time in-vehicle CAN decoding or run on standard computers. The system can output a standard DBC file with the signal definition information.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a nuclear fuel compact is provided. The method includes forming an additive structure, consolidating a fuel matrix around the additive structure, and thermally processing the fuel matrix to form a fuel compact in which the additive structure is encapsulated therein. The additive structure optionally includes a vertical segment and a plurality of arm segments that extend generally radially from the vertical segment for conducting heat outwardly toward an exterior of the fuel compact. In addition to improving heat transfer, the additive structure may function as burnable absorbers, and may provide fission product trapping.

摘要: An improved method for obtaining high fiber volume fraction, long fiber injection molded articles is provided. According to one embodiment, the method includes forming an injection molding feedstock by cutting pre-impregnated fiber-reinforced tape into platelets. The platelets can be coated with a thin layer of polymer to allow sliding of the platelets with respect to each other at the early stages of plastication, rather than forcing relative motion of fibers with respect to each other. The method can further include the dispersion of material only in the final stages of the injection molding screw to promote gentle motion of the feedstock at the earlier stages of the plastication process. The method allows improvement of mechanical properties of articles manufactured with equipment and techniques that are prevalent in high volume automotive and consumer industries.

摘要: A multimodal communication system includes a vehicle controller that controls one or more systems or subsystems of an unmanned vehicle. The communication controller manages communication and logical access to the unmanned vehicle. One or more sensors in communication with the communication controller detects and measures physical properties in proximity to the unmanned vehicle. Transceivers receive the unmanned vehicle commands that are transmitted simultaneously or concurrently and a monotonic generator generates a monotonic object each time the unmanned vehicle's operating state changes. The communication controller executes the first unmanned vehicle command received that has the correct cryptographic hash validating knowledge of the unmanned vehicle's current operating state.

摘要: A nuclear fuel element is provided. The nuclear fuel element includes a porous support. The porous support includes a ligament and defines a pore adjacent to the ligament. The ligament has an interior surface spaced from the pore. The interior surface defines a void. The porous support includes silicon carbide. The nuclear fuel element includes a nuclear fuel material disposed in the pore. The nuclear fuel material includes a moderator and tri-structural isotropic (TRISO) particles. Another nuclear fuel element is provided. The nuclear fuel element includes a porous support. The porous support includes a ligament and defines a pore adjacent to the ligament. The ligament has an interior surface spaced from the pore. The interior surface defines a void. The ligament includes the nuclear fuel material. The nuclear fuel element includes a facesheet overlying the porous support and defines a hole. The hole is in fluid communication with the void. The nuclear fuel material includes a nuclear fuel.
