Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling a heating Technologies for controlling a heating unit are disclosed. In embodiments, the systems and methods determine a heating unit target temperature based at least in part on a duty cycle of at least one thermostat. The systems and methods may then determine a simulated outdoor temperature corresponding to the heating unit target temperature, and a resistance value corresponding to the simulated outdoor temperature. The systems and methods may then cause a resistance signal including or indicative of the resistance value to be provided to an outdoor temperature input for the heating unit, e.g., to cause the heating unit to modulate to the heating unit target temperature.

Abstract: A backflow preventer including a body having an inlet for connection to an upstream portion of a plumbing system and an outlet for connection to a downstream portion of the plumbing system, a first check valve and a second check valve located in the body for preventing the reverse flow of water between the outlet and the inlet. An inlet pressure zone is positioned between the inlet and the first check valve, an outlet pressure zone is positioned between the outlet and the second check valve, and an intermediate pressure zone is positioned between the first and the second check valves. Position sensors sense the positions of the check valves, and pressure sensors sense the pressures in the zone. A controller in communication with the position sensors and the pressure sensors calculates the opening and closing pressures of the check valves.

Abstract: A relief valve provides pressure relief when a fluid line exceeds a predetermined pressure. The valve includes a body which defines a cavity between inlet and outlet flowpaths. The valve includes a lever arm, which pivots around a pivot point as the valve changes between open and closed positions. A plunger assembly is disposed in the cavity and seals the cavity from the inlet and outlet flowpaths in the closed position. Fluid pressure from the inlet flow path causes the plunger assembly to contact the lever arm to urge the lever arm to rotate. The lever arm engages a spring at a further distance from the pivot point than the plunger assembly, the spring resisting pivoting of the lever arm and urging the valve to remain in the closed position unless a predetermined pressure is exceeded.

Abstract: A floor warming system includes floor warming elements for coupling to a floor and a first sensor assembly for generating a first signal indicative of at least one of a floor temperature and a floor warming element temperature. A thermostat controller receives the first signal and a second signal indicating an ambient outdoor temperature for controlling operation of the floor warming elements. The thermostat controller includes memory storing an instruction set and data related to a user setpoint and a processor for running the instruction set. The processor is operative to calculate an operational floor setpoint based on the first signal, the second signal and the user setpoint.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for valve cartridge extraction from a valve assembly, wherein the assembly includes a valve member body, a cartridge, and a valve cartridge extraction (VCE) tool comprising at least one pin disposed on the upper surface of the VCE tool. During cartridge removal, the VCE tool is uncoupled from the valve member body and is coupled to the cartridge with the at least one pin. The cartridge is rotated with the coupled VCE tool to assist in cartridge removal. The valve assembly may also include a hood covering the VCE tool.

Abstract: The disclosed hose hanger apparatus is manually installable on a gas supply hose to secure and retain an end of the gas supply hose when the hose is disconnected from a gas appliance. The hose hanger apparatus is also configured to engage with and accept a male quick disconnect nipple when installed in an opposite orientation on the gas supply hose.

Abstract: A sanitizing filter for sanitizing a residential water filtering system has a water filter assembly including a cartridge operable for removable attachment to the water filter assembly. When the cartridge is attached to the water filter assembly, a water flow passes into the cartridge, mixes with sanitizing media within the cartridge, and passes back into the water filter assembly. The residential water filtering system is then filled and flushed repeatedly and the mixture of water and sanitizing media sanitizes the portions of the system that are downstream from the sanitizing filter.

Abstract: A leak detector assembly for use with a backflow prevention device includes a housing defining a passageway for receiving a fluid. A flap assembly couples to the housing for generating a low flow error signal indicating minimal fluid passing through the passageway and a fully actuated error signal indicating significant fluid passing through the passageway. The flap assembly includes a flap mounted in the passageway such that significant flow of the fluid moves the flap to generate the fully actuated error signal. The flap assembly also includes a sensing element on the flap to determine a presence of the fluid without movement of the flap to generate the low flow error signal based on a low flow of the fluid.

Abstract: A pressure regulator assembly including a regulator valve, a spring guide, a spring extending between the spring guide and regulator valve for setting operation of the regulator valve, a sleeve coupled to the spring guide, a spring cage coupled to the sleeve, an adjustment stem coupled to the sleeve, a dial assembly coupled to the spring cage, and an adjustment cap coupled to the adjustment stem, wherein when the cap is depressed, interaction between the spring cage, spring guide and sleeve causes the spring guide to selectively rotate between a normal mode and a fast-fill mode. In the normal mode, adjustment of the cap determines an output pressure. In the fast-fill mode, the spring is further compressed by movement of the spring guide to a predetermined setting to provide a predetermined output pressure.
