Abstract:
In an image reading apparatus, it is judged whether an original sheet is a first sheet type, whose sheet length is longer than or equal to a first conveyance distance and shorter than a second conveyance distance, and a second sheet type, whose sheet length is longer than or equal to the second conveyance path, the first conveyance distance being a distance between a first conveyance roller and a second conveyance roller, the second conveyance distance being a distance between a supply roller and the second conveyance roller. At least one of a leading-edge arriving timing; a trailing-edge arriving timing; and a sub-scanning magnification is set dependently on the judged result. An image is read from the original sheet by using an image reading unit and a conveyance unit based on the set at least one of the leading-edge arriving timing; trailing-edge arriving timing; and sub-scanning magnification.
Abstract:
An image reader is provided, which includes a housing, a document table, a reading unit disposed between the housing and the document table and configured to read an image of a document sheet on the document table, and a carriage configured to hold the reading unit and move along a moving direction, the carriage including a protruding portion formed to protrude toward the reading unit, on a bottom surface of the carriage that faces a lower surface of the reading unit.
Abstract:
A conveying mechanism is disposed inside a housing of an image scanning device and is configured to convey the sheet along a common path to the scanning position in a first direction, and to convey the sheet having passed the scanning position selectively along a return path in a second direction and along a one-way path in the first direction. A scanning unit disposed inside the housing scans, at the scanning position, an image of a sheet. The discharge cover is openably and closably disposed in the housing and is configured, when open relative to the housing, to define a discharge port and receive the sheet conveyed along the one-way path and discharged through the discharge port. The maintenance cover is openably and closably disposed in the housing and is configured, when open relative to the housing, to expose the one-way path and the return path.
Abstract:
An image reading device includes: an original table having a stationary original reading area and a moving original reading area on its top surface; an image reading unit provided inside the original table and moving the reading line in the direction of the width of the stationary original reading area and to the moving original reading area with the direction of the length of the stationary original reading area as the reading line; an original cover openably and closably provided on the original table so as to cover at least the stationary original reading area; and an ADF having an original conveyance path leading from an original tray by way of the moving original reading area to an original output tray. The image reading device reads originals of sizes larger than the readable stationary original size without any size increase of the device.
Abstract:
An image scanning device includes a scanning unit configured to scan, at a scanning position, an image of a document, a first discharge portion, a second discharge portion, a conveying unit configured to selectively convey the document along a first conveying path from the scanning position to the first discharge portion, and along a second conveying path from the scanning position to the second discharge portion, a driving unit configured to generate a driving force for driving the conveying unit, and a path switching unit configured to receive the driving force generated by the driving unit such that the path switching unit moves between a first position for guiding the document toward the first discharge portion, and a second position for guiding the document toward the second discharge portion.

Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes an image reading portion that moves in a predetermined direction and has an image reading sensor that reads an image on a sheet. A sheet feeder feeds the sheet. A first transparent member has a reference surface that supports the sheet thereon, and a second transparent member contacts the sheet fed by the sheet feeder. The image reading portion moves along a lower surface of the second transparent member, and the second transparent member is positioned to overlap a portion of the first transparent member as viewed from a direction perpendicular to the reference surface. The image reading portion moves along a lower surface of the first transparent member and moves along a lower surface of the second transparent member.
Abstract:
An image reader includes a casing, a contact glass plate, a contact image sensor, and a sliding mechanism; wherein the contact image sensor has a housing, a light source attached to the housing so as to face the contact glass plate, a plurality of light receiving elements attached to the housing so as to face the contact glass plate and aligned in parallel in a longitudinal direction of the housing, and a bearing formed integral to the housing at a position below a lower surface of the housing; and the sliding mechanism includes a guide shaft provided on the casing and extending in a short direction of the housing and inserted through the bearing, and an urging member elastically which urges the guide shaft toward the contact glass plate so that the housing is pressed against the contact glass plate.
