    摘要: The embodiments include systems and methods for guiding a user to capture two flash images of a document page, and selectively fuse the images to produce a binary image of high quality and without loss of any content. Each individual image may have an FSR where the content is degraded/lost due to the flash light. The idea is to first guide the user to take two images such that there is no overlap of flash-spots in the document regions. The flash spots in both images are detected and assessed for quality and extent of degradation in both images. The image with lower degradation is chosen as the primary image and the other image as secondary, to minimize fusing artifacts. The region in secondary image corresponding to the FSR in the primary is aligned to the primary region using a multiscale alignment technique. The primary image and aligned FSR are binarized and fused in the vicinity of the flashspot in the primary using an intelligent technique that minimizes fusion boundary artifacts such as cutting of characters and words.

    摘要: An image scanner includes a transparent plate, a scanning device, a driving device, a positioning member, a light absorbing portion and a white reference portion. The transparent plate has an original placing surface. The scanning device irradiates an original with light by means of a light source and scans reflected light from the original. The driving device reciprocates the scanning device along the transparent plate. The positioning member positions the original placed on the original placing surface of the transparent plate. The light absorbing portion, which is disposed on the original placing surface side of the positioning member and at substantially a central portion of the positioning member in moving directions of the scanning device, absorbs ambient light entering to the original placing surface side of the positioning member through the transparent plate. The white reference portion is provided to the original placing surface side of the positioning member.

The first trans-impedance amplifier converts a first current signal generated by a first photodiode, into which an optical signal is input, into a first voltage signal. The second trans-impedance amplifier converts a second current signal generated by a second photodiode, to which an optical signal is blocked, into a second voltage signal. The peak hold circuit holds the peak value of the first voltage signal. The comparator outputs a pulse on the basis of the first and second voltage signals. The threshold current setting circuit draws out a threshold current.

    摘要: An image reader includes a platen, a carriage, a light shielding unit, a positioning mark, an ambient light detecting unit, and a control unit. The positioning mark is arranged in an area in which the light shielding unit is disposed or in an area adjacent in a main scanning direction to the area in which the light shielding unit is disposed, at a position falling within the range that can be read by the carriage. When the ambient light detecting unit detects the presence of ambient light, the control unit causes the carriage to move with the exposure lamp turned off to detect a position of the positioning mark. When the ambient light detecting unit detects the absence of ambient light, the control unit causes the carriage to move with the exposure lamp turned on to detect the position of the positioning mark.
