Abstract:
A method and device for communicating ARQ feedback in wireless communication networks. An ARQ block whose transmission is in progress is determined upon occurrence of an event at a receiving device. ARQ feedback is generated that indicates the ARQ blocks whose transmission is in progress. Further, the ARQ feedback is sent to a device transmitting the ARQ feedback.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for reduces an overhead caused by an operation transition gap in a Relay Station (RS) of a relay wireless communication system. The method includes identifying a signal delay time with an upper node. A transmission/reception operation transition time is determined through a negotiation with the upper node. An idle time is identified. An overhead caused by a transmission/reception operation transition is determined with consideration of a start time point of an Uplink (UL) subframe dependent on the signal delay time, the transmission/reception operation transition time, and the idle time. And communication is performed considering the overhead. The start time point of the UL subframe is set earlier than a start time point of a UL subframe of the upper node in consideration of the idle time.
Abstract:
A method and system for encoding the length of a Medium Access Control (MAC) Protocol Data Unit (PDU) is provided. The method includes partitioning the length of the MAC PDU into a first part and a second part when the length of the MAC PDU is greater than a first predefined value, encoding the first part in a first header of the MAC PDU, encoding the second part in a second header of the MAC PDU, encoding the length of the MAC PDU in a first header of the MAC PDU when the length of the MAC PDU is less than or equal to first predefined value, and transmitting the MAC PDU with the encoded length of the MAC PDU to a receiving communication device. In another embodiment, the invention includes a method and apparatus for decoding an encoded length of a MAC PDU.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting management message by a transmitting device in a communication network includes receiving a management message that is to be transmitted in the communication network. The transmitting device determines whether a feedback is required for the management message when the management message is transmitted in the communication network. The transmitting device also includes a feedback request information in a Medium Access Control (MAC) Protocol Data Unit (PDU) including a last fragment of the management message. The management message can be transmitted in one or more MAC PDUs and can be divided into one or more fragments. The transmitting device also transmits the MAC PDU indicating the feedback request information.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for transmitting and receiving an Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) feedback message in a wireless communication system are provided. A method for receiving an ARQ feedback message at a transmitting unit in a wireless communication system includes allocating a fixed-size resource for transmitting an ARQ feedback message, to a receiving unit, the resource being an unsolicited bandwidth, and receiving an ARQ feedback message or a resource request message from the receiving unit over the fixed-size resource allocated.
Abstract:
A wireless multi-hop relay communication system includes a terminal for transmitting an Automatic Retransmission reQuest (ARQ) block of a Media Access Control (MAC) layer in an access link, an access link relay station for determining if there is an error in the ARQ block received on the access link and for sending the ARQ block to an upper node over a relay link when the ARQ block has no error, and a base station for determining if there is an error in the ARQ block received over the relay link.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for transmitting ACKnowledge (ACK) channels by a Relay Station (RS) in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes, when receiving one or more ACK information from one or more lower nodes, checking ACK channel constitution information provided from an upper node, arranging one or more ACK channels to transmit corresponding ACK information according to the ACK channel constitution information by distinguishing ACK information of one or more data scheduled by the upper node and ACK information of one or more retransmission data not scheduled by the upper node, and transmitting the one or more ACK information to the upper node in the arranged ACK channels.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus and method for releasing MS information in a wireless access communication system using a multi-hop relay scheme. In a method for a communication operation of a BS, when a data transmission path of an MS changes, one or more RSs from which information about the MS is to be removed are determined. Thereafter, a path removal message is generated and the path removal message is transmitted to the one or more RSs.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for transmitting control information to a Relay Station (RS) in a multi-hop relay broadband wireless communication system is disclosed. The apparatus includes a generator, a controller, and a communication unit. The generator generates control information to be transmitted to a lower RS. The controller controls and transmits the control information during a first relay link transmission interval among at least one relay link transmission interval distributed within a frame. The communication unit transmits the control information to the lower RS.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for configuring a Relay-Frame Control Header (R-FCH) transmitted in an intermediary link area in a multi-hop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system are provided. The method includes determining a modulation scheme of a Relay Station (RS) Downlink (DL)-MAP (or simply referred to as R-MAP) in consideration of a channel state with the RS while an initial network entry process is performed by the RS or while communicating with the RS in a Base Station (BS)-RS area where communication is made with RSs connected to the BS and transmitting a message including the determined modulation scheme to the RS. Accordingly, a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) on the R-MAP can be dynamically changed according to a channel state between an RS and a BS, thereby enabling effective use of resources.
