A battery cover assembly for a portable electronic device (100), the battery cover assembly includes a cover (10), a housing (20), a button (30) and the at least one elastic element (40). The cover defines a button hole (122). The cover is slidably attached to the housing. The button is disposed on the housing, and is releasably received in the button hole. One end of the at least one elastic element is attached to the housing, and another end of the at least one elastic element is attached to the cover. The at least one elastic element provides an elastic force to allow the cover to automatically slide to open relative to the housing when the button exits from the button hole.

A aperture (226) is defined in the bottom surface of the receiving groove (222), and the main body (20) have a button slot (242) defined therein. The cover (12) has a guiding pole (124) protruding therefrom, the guiding pole (124) have a securing portion (126) formed thereon, and the guiding pole (124) inserts into the main body (20) from the aperture (226). The latch base can be securely attached to the housing member. The latch member is mounted on the latch base and movable relative to the latch base to latch the cover member to the housing member. The return member drives the latch member to move in such a manner that the movement of the latch member detaches the cover member away from the housing member.
