In one exemplary embodiment, prior to performing a full band scan, the wireless UE device is operable to interrogate a list of networks with which the wireless UE device has registered at least once in a given period of time, wherein a network availability likelihood score may be associated with each of the list of networks. A particular network is selected from the list of networks based on its network availability likelihood score.

    摘要: Systems and methods for achieving PLMN continuity when moving between networks of different types through network selection are provided. When a mobile station moves from a first network type, such as cellular, to a second network type, such as GAN, if there is a PLMN discontinuity, this may result in a dropped call. In order to avoid this, networks for the first network type and the second network type are selected such that there is PLMN continuity. This can involve reselection of a different cellular network than one currently providing service to the mobile station.

    摘要: In one embodiment, a scheme is disclosed for effectuating a call in a network environment including a circuit-switched (CS) network and an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network. Call information associated with a call is sent from a user equipment (UE) device to an application server (AS) node disposed in the IMS network. The call information includes at least one of a call reference number and a called party's URI. When a message is received at the UE device from the AS node, which message includes the call reference number and an IP multimedia routing number (IMRN), the returned call reference number is verified that it remains valid based on a local timer mechanism associated with the UE device. The IMRN is then sent to the application server in order to facilitate a session with respect to the called party.

    摘要: Apparatus, and an associated method, by which to facilitate operation of a roaming mobile node to perform a packet communication service. When the mobile node roams beyond its home network, detection is made of the available networks in whose coverage area that the mobile node roams together with the communication capabilities of the available networks. A preferred listing stored at a storage element of the mobile node is accessed to determine if any of the available and compatible networks are listed on the preferred listing. If so, selection is made of one of the available and preferred networks. Otherwise, a network not contained in the preferred listing is selected through which to communicate.
