    摘要: A method is disclosed for the reading graphical indicia that are encoded in accordance with a multidimensional symbology. The indicia are repeatedly scanning a signal representative of a pattern thereof until sufficient information is recognized to assure a valid reading operation. The signal, or a memorized representation thereof is decoded to obtain character information from code words of the indicia. A first value is assigned to each newly recognized character, and a second value is assigned to each character that was recognized in a preceding scan of the indicia. The first and second values are respectively cumulated into first and second sums. A function of the first sum and the second sum is computed, an audible click produced whenever a predetermined value of the function has been attained. The first and second sums are then reset. The rate of clicks informs the user of the progression of the reading operation. An auxiliary audible indicator, such as pitch, can be varied to inform the user of the cumulative progress of the scan.

An image sensor array can be incorporated in a terminal having a hand held housing. A terminal can be operative to capture a frame and locate a feature of a document represented within the frame, the document of a type having a bar code symbol at a predetermined location. The system can determine a location of a bar code symbol representation within an image representation. For determining a location of the bar code symbol representation in an image representation, the system can be operative to utilize pre-stored information respecting the document and the determined location of the document feature representation, the pre-stored information indicating a location of the bar code symbol in a document of the document type subject to image capture.

    摘要: A bar coded patient wristband identifies a patient wearing the wristband. The system comprises a bar code reader to read the bar coded wristband. A host computer is connected to the digital link to receive the segment of data from the bar code reader. A database correlates the segment of data to a patient to identify the patient. The patient wristband comprises a plurality of bar code symbols. A computer then retrieves a patient record from the database to identify the patient wearing the wristband. In one embodiment, a patient wristband for identifying a patient accepts a plurality of markings of 2 D bar codes distributed along the strip. In another embodiment, the wristband comprises a plurality of linear bar code lines and spaces distributed along the strip. The lines and spaces form a 1 D bar code.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for configuring an imaging system to compensate for fixed pattern noise, variations in pixel values captured from an image sensor that vary according to a fixed pattern. In a method for configuring an imaging system for compensating an additive term component of fixed pattern noise, a pixel array is exposed to a scene of known radiance and an average white value is determined for each pixel of an array. Each average white value is compared to a predetermined reference value to determine a correction value for each pixel. In a method for configuring an imaging system for compensating both an additive and multiplicative component of fixed pattern noise, a pixel array is exposed to a first scene having a first known radiance, and frames of the scene are captured, and then the array is exposed to a second scene having a second known radiance and frames of the second scene are captured. After first and second average white values are determined for each pixel additive and multiplicative term correction values for each pixel are then determined by solving for a system of equations relating the first and second average white values and first and second scene radiances. Correction values can be utilized to correct pixel values of a frame of image data, and a decoding algorithm for attempting to decode a frame of image data including corrected pixel values can be activated.
