The device has a press area which includes at least one press nip through which, during operation, the fibrous pulp web is fed at a velocity of at least 1200 m/min, under simultaneous impingement by pressure. The press area includes at least two press zones subsequent to one another. The device is further characterized by a K value of at least 2.5 kPa·s·m. This K value is the product of L1 and Itot. L1 is the length of the first press zone, measured along the direction in which the web runs, and Itot is the total press impulse operating on the fibrous pulp web in the entire press area.

Shoe press unit and method for treatment of a fibrous pulp web. The shoe press unit includes at least one press shoe, an opposing surface, a flexible press belt guided over the press shoe, and at least one force element composed of a cylinder/piston unit supported on a carrier. The at least one force element presses the press belt against the opposing surface to form a press zone elongated in a web run direction, and the cylinder/piston unit include a pressure chamber having at least one pair of cylinder/piston subunits successively positioned in the web run direction. Pressure fluid lines are coupled to respective ones of the at least one pair of cylinder/piston subunits to separately supply pressure fluid to each cylinder/pressure subunit to impart a tilting moment long a tilt axis substantially perpendicular to the web run direction. The method includes supplying a pressure fluid to a first and second pressure fluid line from a common pressure fluid source at a source pressure, supplying pressure fluid through the first pressure fluid line at a first fluid pressure to a first subunit of the at least one pair of cylinder piston subunits, supplying pressure fluid through the second pressure fluid at a second fluid pressure to a second subunit of the at least one pair of cylinder piston subunits, and maintaining a sum of the first and second fluid pressures to be substantially equal to the source pressure.

A press arrangement of a paper or cardboard machine for the treatment of a fibrous pulp sheet in a press opening that is extended in the run direction of the fibrous pulp sheet. The press opening is defined by two press surfaces, at least one of which is constructed of a flexible press sleeve that is guided over at least one press shoe. The flexible press sleeve is further able to press against the opposing press surface with the aid of the press shoe due to the creation of a fluid cushion between the press shoe and the press sleeve. The press shoe is thus able to be tensioned such that a resulting main press force is exerted in a direction that runs substantially perpendicular to the fibrous pulp sheet being guided through the press opening. A lever is designed to load the press shoe with an positive or negative force that acts on the press shoe substantially perpendicular to the resulting main press force. The additional positive or negative forces transfer a tilting moment to the press shoe whereby the press shoe tilts around a respective tilting axis. The tilting axis extends substantially perpendicular to the run direction of the fibrous pulp sheet and in the transverse direction of the press arrangement. Thus, the additional forces can, substantially, independently influence the pressure profile in the press opening, set along the run direction of the fibrous pulp sheet.

The invention relates to a roll press including at least three rolls forming several press nips for the treatment of a web of material. One press roll comprises a very flexible roll shell which is rotatable around a fixed support and is mounted on the support by at least one support element which has a concave support surface for defining a wide press nip with a cylindrical backing roll. To obtain as uniform as possible a press nip between the backing roll and at least one additional roll which is without sag control, the circumference of the roll shell of the backing roll decreases axially towards its ends, i.e., that roll may be crowned. In addition, the backing roll may have its own roll shell support elements which are either in the press plane or are inclined slightly out of the press plane and/or the hydraulic pressure fluid supplied to the press roll and to the backing roll is adapted to supply a greater pressing force by the press roll. The box has a closed steam blast chamber which extends along the roll transverse to the direction of travel of the web and to which steam can be fed. The front wall of the box, which faces the roll, has a plurality of steam outlet openings. A steam propagation space is formed between the front wall of the steam blast box and the roll. For controlling the temperature and/or for regulating the amount of heat transferred to the web of paper in the steam propagation space, an air outlet channel, which extends transverse to the direction of travel of the web and is located at the web inlet end of the steam propagation space, is provided for the admixing of air in the steam. In this way, sensitive separate, zone-wise control of the heating of the paper web can be obtained. The steam propagation space can be cooled zone-wise by feeding air on the inlet side. Air and steam are drawn off at the outlet end of the propagation space, also zone-wise across the web.

A shoe press roll for a paper machine which, together with a backing roll, forms a press nip through which a press jacket guided over the shoe press roll travels together with a paper web. The shoe press roll comprises a press shoe which can be pressed by at least one hydraulic element against the backing roll. The hydraulic element is developed as a cylinder/piston unit that acts between a stationary support member and the press shoe. The unit includes a first pressure chamber which can be acted on by hydraulic pressure and is in communication via a small diameter throttle point passing through the piston with a second pressure chamber which is open toward the press shoe. The edge of the piston rests with a sealing surface against the press shoe. Hydraulic pressure is transmitted from the first pressure chamber under approximately static conditions, to the second pressure chamber through the throttle point and thus to the press shoe. Should the press shoe tilt permitting pressure to escape from the second chamber at the shoe, the throttle point prevents rapid continuous flow of hydraulic pressure out of the first pressure chamber. The tilting produces a pressure drop in the second pressure chamber which causes the press shoe to apply itself against the cylinder/piston unit as a result of the external pressure applied from the first pressure chamber.

The press rolls are paired so that each pair defines a respective press nip. There are preferably at least four press nips defined by the paired press rolls. The press rolls are so placed and the press nips are so defined and the web is so trained on the path through the wet press that the paper web is always supported by the outer surface of one of the press rolls on the web path from the first press nip to the last press nip. At the second press nip in the path of the web, each of the press rolls there forms a felt free second press nip and each of the press rolls at the second nip has a closed outer surface. The same may be true for the fourth press nip. Some of the press rolls may be shoe press rolls.

The invention is directed to a press system of a paper machine for making tissue, including a crepe drying cylinder, a press roll with a smooth surface, an extended-shoe press unit, and a press roll fashioned as a suction roll or grooved roll. A first press gap is formed by the press roll with a smooth surface and the press roll designed as a suction roll or grooved roll. A water collection tub is coordinated with the suction roll or grooved roll. A second gap is formed between the press roll with the smooth surface and the extended-shoe press unit after which the felt leaves the periphery of the press roll with the smooth surface. Following thereafter, a third press gap is provided between the press roll with the smooth surface and the crepe drying cylinder. The felt does not pass through the third press gap.
