摘要： The disclosure pertains to methods for inserting a soft cap onto a slider in order to protect the slider from damaging the package film of a reclosable bag during high pressure pasteurization. A first embodiment discloses manual or automated insertion of the soft cap onto the slider, prior to inserting the slider/cap assembly onto a length of zipper. A second embodiment discloses automated insertion of the soft cap onto a slider which is already mounted on a length of reclosable zipper. A third embodiment uses an insert molding process with a first mold cavity to form the slider and a second mold cavity to form the soft cap over the slider. A fourth embodiment uses a dual shot molding process in a single mold cavity to form both the slider and the soft cap thereover.

摘要： A reclosable bag having a top flap with holes configured to allow a stack of such bags to be mounted on a wicket or a pair of dispensing posts, and having a slider-actuated zipper (e.g., a string zipper) installed in a mouth at the top of the bag. The top flap is connected to a double layer of film that forms one side of the receptacle mouth and is joined to one strip of the zipper. The flap, which extends downward near its connection to the double layer of film, can be wrapped under and around the bottom of one side of the slider. The holes in the flap (for the wicket) are disposed above the zipper when the wrapped-around flap is fully extended upward.

More specifically, the apparatus is a form-fill-seal machine having means for placing product on a web of packaging film; means for forming a receptacle having an interior volume and a mouth, with the product in the interior volume and a string zipper installed in the mouth, the web of packaging film forming at least one wall of the receptacle; a slider insertion device for inserting sliders on the string zipper; and means for sealing the receptacle so that ambient air cannot enter the interior volume. The form-fill-seal machine may further include either means for aligning an edge of the web with a flangeless zipper strip of the zipper strip before the web is joined to the flangeless zipper strip or means for trimming an edge of the web after a portion of the web proximal to the edge has been joined to a flangeless zipper strip of the string zipper.

摘要： A reclosable package has a slider-operated string zipper joined to the receptacle mouth. The slider includes a plow that pries apart the zipper sections lying in its path during slider travel in an opening direction; first and second sidewalls disposed on opposite sides of the plow and bounding a slider tunnel, and first and second ledges supported by the plow. The first zipper part passes through a first space between the first sidewall and the plow, while the second zipper part passes through a second space between the second sidewall and the plow. The first ledge is the only portion of the slider that underlies any portion of the first zipper part, while the second ledge is the only portion of the slider that underlies any portion of the second zipper part. Accordingly, the ledges retain the zipper parts with the spaces on the opposing sides of the plow.

Together, the profiles have two sets of interlocking members, one on either side of a central portion. There, at least one profile has a collapsible member in its central portion. In any event, when the first and second mutually interlocking profiles are joined to one another, the collapsible member encounters and compresses against the other profile to create a watertight seal.

摘要： A slider-zipper assembly includes a zipper having two interlockable zipper parts and a slider mounted to said zipper, one or both of the zipper parts having a longitudinal channel with closed ends and a substantially constant profile between the closed ends. The slider causes confronting portions of said the zipper parts to engage during slider travel in a first direction and to disengage during slider travel in a second direction opposite to said first direction. The slider comprises a pair of projections or a single extended projection arranged to project into and travel along the longitudinal channel during slider travel. One closed end of the channel lies in the path of one of the two projections or one end of the extended projection when the slider travels in an opening direction. The other closed end of the channel lies in the path of the other of the two projections or the other end of the extended projection when the slider travels in a closing direction. The closed ends of the channel act as slider end stops, blocking further travel of the slider.

The above arrangements make possible special fasteners (1) that include sliders (9), gasket membranes (26), fasteners inverted within the bag (30), peel seals (18, 20, 21) and hinged fasteners (1).

摘要： A gusseted bag has front and rear walls interconnected by a pair of side gussets and a slider-operated zipper. The zipper comprises a pair of profiled closure members that are engaged and disengaged by operation of the slider. No part of the side gussets is captured between the profiled closure members when the latter are interlocked. In one embodiment, the zipper extends beyond the front and rear walls on both sides thereof. In a fully closed position of the slider, at least part of the slider extending beyond one side of the front and rear walls. A sufficient portion of the slider extends beyond one side of the front and rear walls so that the first and second profiled closure members are interlocked across the entire width of the front and rear walls.
