摘要: In a transflective liquid crystal display device, assuming that a narrower angle among angles formed by the initial liquid crystal alignment direction of a liquid crystal layer, and the projection direction of a pixel electrode of a transmissive unit is Et and that a narrower angle among angles formed by the initial liquid crystal alignment direction of the liquid crystal layer, and the projection direction of a pixel electrode of a reflective unit is θr, (1) when the liquid crystal layer possesses a positive-type liquid crystal, the relation of θt>θr is satisfied, and (2) when the liquid crystal layer possesses a negative-type liquid crystal, the relation of θr>θt is satisfied. The relations are satisfied by slanting or bending at least one of the pixel electrodes, and the reflectivity is improved.

摘要: A display device includes a glass substrate having a gate line, a drain line, a pixel electrode, and a thin film transistor. A silicon nitride film is formed on the glass substrate, and a silicon oxide film is formed on the silicon nitride film. The thin film transistor is formed on the silicon oxide film, and includes a poly-silicon film, a gate electrode which is electrically connected to the gate line, a drain electrode which connected to the drain line, and a source electrode which is electrically connected to the pixel electrode. A gate insulation film is formed between the silicon oxide film and the gate electrode, and an interlayer film is interposed between the gate insulation film and the pixel electrode. The silicon nitride film has a larger film thickness than that of the silicon oxide film, and the films are configured so as to reduce reflection.

摘要: In a liquid crystal display device the reflection of light from a transmissive region is reduced, the contrast of images is enhanced and a display of inverted images is suppressed. The liquid crystal display device includes a first background film made of silicon nitride and a second background film made of silicon oxide over a glass substrate, and thin film transistors and light transmissive pixel portions are formed over the second background film. Each thin film transistor is constituted of a polysilicon film, a gate electrode, a drain electrode and a source electrode, while a gate insulation film, an interlayer insulation film and an organic film are formed over the pixel portion. Further, in the liquid crystal display device external light is reflected, wherein by forming the first background film thicker than the second background film, the inversion of images of a transmissive type liquid crystal panel can be suppressed.

摘要: The invention provides a method for processing a transparent material, which is applicable to universal materials and by which the propagation loss of an optical function device produced by changing the refractive index is slight. Femtosecond laser pulses are condensed by a lens, and a glass material being fused quartz is relatively moved, wherein a waveguide is formed by forming a continuous high refractive index area. Prior art optical pulses depicted in FIG. 1(a) are one-by-one femtosecond laser pulses at a pulse interval which is slightly shorter or longer than a thermal diffusion time (1 μs) of a substance. Optical pulses according to the invention, which are depicted in FIG. 1(b) are irradiated while using, as a set, two femtosecond laser pulses with a pulse interval which is around the electron lattice energy relaxation time (1 through 100 ps) of a substance.

摘要: A liquid crystal light valve includes a semiconductor substrate having a region for a plurality of switching elements formed in a matrix form. A first metal layer is formed on the surface of the semiconductor substrate through an insulating layer and divided into a plurality of parts by first slits. A second metal layer is formed on the first metal layer through another insulating layer and divided into a plurality of parts by second slits. A third metal layer is formed on the second metal layer through still another insulating layer and divided into a plurality of parts by third slits. An opposite substrate has an opposite electrode on a surface thereof, disposed so as to be opposite to said third metal layer through an interval on the opposite electrode side. Liquid crystal fills the interval between said opposite electrode and the third metal layer.

摘要: A lower battery block feeds low-voltage power to a low-voltage load. The lower battery block includes cells. At least one higher battery block is connected in series with the lower battery block, and cooperates with the lower battery block to feed high-voltage power to a high-voltage load. The higher battery block includes cells. A DC—DC converter transmits power from the higher battery block to the lower battery block. A controller detects an electric parameter of the lower battery block which relates to an average per-cell voltage in the lower battery block, and also an electric parameter of the higher battery block which relates to an average per-cell voltage in the higher battery block. The controller operates for controlling the DC—DC converter in response to the detected electric parameters to equalize the average per-cell voltage in the lower battery block and the average per-cell voltage in the higher battery block.
