摘要： A disc case having a case main unit including an accommodation chamber for rotatably accommodating a disc having a signal recording surface on at least one side of the disc, support member access openings provided in the top and bottom walls of the accommodation chamber so that a chucking member can apply an external pressure to the disc, a head access opening formed in the top or bottom wall of the accommodation chamber and tangent to the side wall surface of the accommodation chamber so that a read/write head can read and/or record signals on the signal recording surface of the disc, and a concave portion formed in an area extending from the side wall surface at the head access opening to the front fringe portion of the case main unit and concave with respect to the top or bottom surface of the main unit of the case. The disc case also includes a shutter installed on the case main unit to cover the support member access openings, the head access opening and the concave portion when the shutter is closed. The shutter opens to expose the support member access openings and the head access opening by sliding in at least one direction from the covered position along the front fringe portion of the case main unit. A shielding portion provided on the case main unit shields all or a part of the passages communicating with the accommodation chamber even when the shutter is closed.

摘要： A disk cartridge of the present invention comprises a case body (101) having a disk-storage portion and an opening/closing cover (201) having a pair of disk holding members (202) that hold a disk (10) in its inplane direction. The accommodated disk (10) is loaded together with the opening/closing cover (201) into an adapter having compatibility with a large disk cartridge. Thus, information can be, for example, reproduced from the disk (10) in a drive unit designed for a large disk cartridge via the adapter. Moreover, a series of operations can be conducted without touching the disk directly.

摘要： A cartridge adaptor accommodates a second cartridge which is smaller than a first cartridge so as to allow the second cartridge to be mounted in a disk apparatus designed to receive the first cartridge. The cartridge adaptor includes a shutter opener engageable with a shutter opener of the disk apparatus to open and close a shutter of the second cartridge, a projection engageable with a recess of the second cartridge to restrict insertion direction of the second cartridge into the disk apparatus, and a conveying member which is inserted into a transmission aperture formed in correspondence with an identification hole formed in the second cartridge, thereby opening and closing a detection hole of the cartridge adaptor formed at a corresponding position to an identification hole of the first cartridge. When the cartridge adaptor accommodating the second cartridge is mounted in the disk apparatus, the shutter of the second cartridge is opened, and the information on a disk housed in the second cartridge provided by the identification hole is correctly detected by the disk apparatus.
