摘要： A digital storage arrangement is interfaceable with a host device which defines a cavity. The digital storage arrangement includes a housing receivable in the cavity, with a movement margin between the housing and host device, while a resilient support arrangement is provided for fixed engagement with the host device and for engaging the housing, while extending through the movement margin, to support the housing within the storage device cavity and to subject the storage device to a lesser degree of mechanical shock when the host device receives a given mechanical shock. The resilient support arrangement provides support by extending from each corner region of the housing to the host device. The support arrangement is molded through an opening defined by the housing in each corner region to extend outwardly to the host device. A bumper configuration is provided integral with the support arrangement and including a sealing arrangement.

A keying feature of the outer casing extends from the front side toward the back side to prevent improper insertion of the removable data cartridge through a fixed aperture in a drive. 摘要： A protective device (1) for protecting an optical head (2) of a disc drive unit against dirt and dust and shock when the disc drive unit is not in use comprises a carrier disc (5) similar to a music CD disc for engaging in the disc receiving area of the disc drive unit. A brush member (6) located on the carrier disc (5) at a position corresponding to the inner data track (10) of a music CD disc is provided for engaging a lens (3) and a peripheral portion (7) of a lens carrier (4) of the head (2) when the head (2) is in the inactive position for protecting the lens (3) and the peripheral portion (7) against dirt and dust. Fibres (15) of the brush member (6) are of sufficient length to engage and embrace the lens (3) and the peripheral portion (7) of the lens carrier (4) when the head (2) is in the inactive position. The fibres (15) are of sufficient resilience for also protecting the head (2) against shock. The brush member (6) also cleans the lens (3) as the brush member (6) passes by the lens (3) on insertion and ejection of the carrier disc (5) in and from the disc receiving area. Further cleaning can be achieved by activating the disc drive unit for causing the head (2) to go through a number of data focusing cycles for urging the lens (3) into and out of the brush member (6).

The CD Card is made up of one, two, or three major components. The first component is a small compact disc with dimensions small enough to be contained within the typical dimensions (length and width) of a business card, credit card, or collectors card. The second component is a container shaped like a business, credit, or collectors card in length and width, but with a depth large enough to hold the small compact disc and adaptor (if required) discussed subsequently. The third component is an adaptor designed to position the small compact disc of the first and third embodiments of the present invention correctly in standard CD drives. A second embodiment of the small compact disc may not require an adaptor or case. The adaptor also has dimensions small enough to be contained within the typical dimensions (length and width) of a business card, credit card, or collectors card.

摘要： An element which can be plugged into an electronic data processing (EDP) device, for receiving a user card which is equipped with components, including at least one of a processor and/or data memory, a frame having an exterior form, which is designed to accommodate the user card, a first interface for transferring data between the element and the EDP device, and a second interface formed by contacts on the user card and on the frame, for transferring data to and from the user card. The exterior form of the frame is that of a diskette so that it can be inserted into a diskette station of an EDP device. The first interface between the element and the EDP device is designed in a standard fashion, so that data can be transferred using a standard read/write device already present in the diskette station of the EDP device. The frame carries a battery for supplying current via the interface to the components located on the user card, if required, and carries an additional processor and data memory for providing the element with additional processor and storage capacity.
