摘要： An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes an apparatus body, an image carrier for carrying a latent image on its surface, and a developing device for developing the latent image to thereby produce a corresponding toner image. A removable member is removably mounted to the apparatus body and positioned in the apparatus body such that a distance between the removable member and a surrounding member around it varies when the removable member is being mounted to or dismounted from the apparatus body. A frame surrounds at least one of the removable member and surrounding member. A contact member contacts, when the removable member is being mounted to or dismounted from the apparatus body, the frame to thereby determine a distance between the removable member and the surrounding member.

摘要： A method and apparatus of image forming include a process cartridge detachably mounted therein. The process cartridge includes a photoconductive element and a housing storing the photoconductive element and including a guide portion guiding the process cartridge. The guide portion faces an inner wall of the image forming apparatus or another process cartridge adjoining thereto and guides the adjoining process cartridge. The guide portion slidably engages with a portion of the process adjoining cartridge. The guide portion varies in shape according to its position in the image forming apparatus. The guide portion may be separately formed from or integrated with the housing. A method and apparatus of an image forming includes an image transfer mechanism and a plurality of process cartridges arranged in parallel. Each of the process cartridges includes photoconductive elements and a housing, and forms an image for a single separated color.

This developing device comprises a developer container for containing a developer, and a toner replenishing portion which is connected with a toner conveyance portion installed in the image forming apparatus main body and which is communicated with the developer container via an opening portion. Such a developing device is provided with a sealing member for sealing the opening portion until use of the developing device on the image forming apparatus main body is started.

摘要： In an ink-jet type recording head including a nozzle plate provided with nozzle openings, a spacer provided with partitions for partitioning pressure generating chambers, ink supply ports and reservoirs, and a plate member sandwiched and fixed together. Displacement of the plate member is produced by piezoelectric vibrators to thereby generate ink droplets. The spacer is formed by anisotropic etching of a silicon single crystal substrate so that the pressure generating chambers, the ink supply ports and the reservoirs are formed as through-holes communicated with each other. Accordingly, etching conditions for the respective through-holes are made equal to each other. Particularly, through-holes small in sectional area such as the pressure generating chambers and the ink supply ports can be formed with a high accuracy.

摘要： An electrode for connecting an external electric wire to a body heated to a high temperature includes a high temperature side electrode made of a conductor connected to the heated body, and a low temperature side electrode connected at a first end thereof to the high temperature side electrode and at a second end thereof to the external electric wire. The low temperature side electrode is formed of a conductor covered by an insulating material with the conductor of the low temperature side electrode being made of a material having a conduction resistance smaller than that of the conductor of the high temperature side electrode. Thus, as the conductor of the low temperature side electrode has a smaller conduction resistance than the conductor of the high temperature side electrode, an increase in a resistance value is reduced even when the conductor of the low temperature side electrode is extended to lower the temperature at a connection to an external electric wire.

摘要： In an image forming apparatus, a developing device operable with toner or single component type developer has a hard first developing roller and a soft second developing roller. Fine magnetic N-S poles are formed on the periphery of the first roller. The second roller conveys the toner, electrostatically transferred thereto from the first roller, to an image carrier. The device frees a toner image from deterioration due to toner particles charged to a polarity opposite to an expected polarity. The toner forms a uniform thin layer on the first roller and is uniformly charged. Toner for use with this type of developing device is also disclosed.
