摘要:
A head rest adjustment system for a furniture member includes a back support member rotatable with respect to a base member. A head rest assembly is connected to the back support member. An adjustment lever rotates the head rest assembly. An actuation link is connected at a first end to the head rest assembly and at a second end to the adjustment lever. Rotating the adjustment lever displaces the actuation link to rotate the head rest assembly to a plurality of support positions. A back support member axis of rotation is spatially separated from an adjustment lever axis of rotation. Rotating the back support member with respect to the base member can independently operate to displace the actuation link to rotate the head rest assembly without rotation of the adjustment lever.

A furniture item includes a support member and a rotatably pinned mechanism operable in rocking and reclining motions. The mechanism includes first and second side plates; a first pair of forward link members each rotatably connected to one of the side plates; a pantograph linkage set connected to the first pair of forward link members to extend and retract a footrest assembly in the reclining motion; and a drive rod rotatable between the side plates. Rotating the drive rod extends or retracts the pantograph linkage set. An escutcheon connected to the drive rod has a snap-engaged handle to manually rotate the drive rod. At least one U-shaped spring connected between the support member and the mechanism allows rocking motion. A seat pan has flat body springs extending over a seat pan aperture to support an occupant. A detent at one end of each flat spring engages the seat pan.

A spring assembly for an article of furniture having a seat assembly supported from a chair frame and an actuation mechanism for enabling a leg rest assembly to move between a stowed position and an extended position. The mechanism includes a support shaft, a drive rod spaced apart from the support shaft, and a toggle link coupled to the drive shaft. The spring assembly includes a spring with a first and a second end and adapted to attach to the toggle link at the first end. The spring also includes a member at the second end adapted to slidably engage the support shaft, whereby the spring aligns itself at a position on the support shaft where the length of the spring is at a minimum.

The present invention is directed to a powered actuation mechanism for a reclining chair. The powered drive mechanism rotates a drive link which engages a follower link to extend the leg rest assembly. A biasing mechanism is coupled to the leg rest assembly to retract the leg rest assembly. In this manner, the leg rest assembly cannot be fully retract when an obstruction with the leg rest assembly is encountered.

An all-linkage reclining chair having a reinforced chair frame is disclosed. The chair frame includes a side frame assembly integrally connected to a seat assembly along two orthogonal planes. More specifically, a longitudinal seat rail is secured to an inboard side panel which defines a longitudinal coupling plane. In addition, the front seat rail extends laterally outboard of the inboard side panel and is integrally connected to a front post panel associated with the side frame assembly which defines a transverse coupling plane. A support bracket is secured to the front seat rail and the front post assembly to further enhance the rigidity of the chair frame. An all-linkage reclining mechanism is secured to and operably supports the chair frame for reclining movement.

A chaise lounge recliner chair which incorporates an intermediate leg support member for providing support to the thighs and areas behind the knees of the legs of an occupant of the chair. The intermediate leg support member is connected to a portion of the seat of the recliner chair and a portion of the leg rest member of the chair. When the leg rest member is in an extended position the intermediate leg support member provides a normal slightly convex support surface. As the seat back of the chair is reclined, it causes the seat member to be extended outwardly which causes the intermediate leg support member to assume a pronounced convex surface. A plurality of elastic straps are further included and disposed between the seat and leg rest members to prevent the intermediate leg rest member from crowning downwardly relative to the chair frame when the leg rest member is in its extended position.

A "three-way" recliner mechanism for use in reclinable articles of furniture is disclosed. The recliner mechanism is operative for "tilting" the entire seating unit, "reclining" the seat back relative to the seat frame and for selectively extending and retracting a leg rest assembly. The recliner mechanism of the present invention incorporates separate bearing link assemblies for directly supporting the chair frame for translation movement relative to the base.

A retro-fittable, controllably extendable leg rest apparatus for positioning an attached recliner chair leg rest member in retracted or forwardly extended positions. The apparatus includes an elongated frame bracket which may be retro-fittably secured to most conventional scissor linkage assemblies of various recliners. A mounting bracket is included having a first bracket portion secured to the leg rest member, and a second bracket portion having an elongated channel. A plurality of rivets extend through the elongated channel to secure the mounting bracket to the elongated frame bracket. The shanks of the rivets provide guide members upon which the elongated channel of the mounting bracket may slide. A spring is coupled in between a shoulder portion of the mounting bracket and the elongated frame bracket to bias the mounting bracket in a normally retracted position. A latching member is pivotally secured to a portion of the scissor linkage assembly to releasably latch the mounting bracket in the forwardly extended position. The apparatus is extended to the forwardly extended position by applying an outward force to the inner edge of the leg rest member when the scissor linkage is fully protracted, thereby causing the mounting bracket to slide along the shanks of the rivets until the latching member latches with a latching edge surface of the mounting bracket. When the scissor linkage assembly is manually retracted, the latching member is urged out of engagement with the latching edge surface, thus enabling the spring to forcibly return the mounting bracket to and maintain it in the retracted position.

A chair has a seat frame that is suspended at its rear by swing links which are pivoted to the chair frame on a horizontal axis located above the level of the seat frame and a back frame which is mounted on the swing links and pivots with them about the horizontal axis to be reclined to a large angle. The front of the seat frame is supported by swing links which extend downwardly to pivot on the chair frame and define a front horizontal pivot axis for the seat frame which is located below it. Counterbalance springs are connected between them and the chair frame to provide resistance to recline of the back frame and assistance in its return to an upright position. Linkage between the end of each spring and the adjacent swing link controls extension of the spring to keep it always tight and to apply the most advantageous degree of spring force. Resistance, which can be manually adjusted to suit the chair user, is provided in the linkage system to enable the freedom of movement between recline and upright positions of the back to be regulated.
