A variable displacement compressor having a pressurizing passage, which extends through a cylinder block. The pressurizing passage connects a discharge chamber and a crank chamber. A valve is arranged in the pressurizing passage. A drive shaft rotates and produces centrifugal force that causes the valve to open the pressurizing passage. The pressure of the crank chamber is increased when the rotation of the drive shaft is accelerated thereby opening the pressurizing passage with the valve. This moves a swash plate such that its inclination, relative to a plane perpendicular to the drive shaft, decreases. As a result, the compressor shifts from a maximum displacement state to a minimum displacement state, which improves the acceleration performance of an engine connected to the compressor. Furthermore, the displacement of the compressor in the minimum displacement state is 50% of that in the maximum displacement state. This prevents an excessive decrease in the cooling capability of the compressor.

Therefore, when the compressor is placed on a flat surface, the support and the leg prevent the control valve from contacting the surface. Final format writing end position information for a logical track and an erase flag indicating whether the erasing is required or not are stored at a portion of a logical track control table which controls a cache memory, for each logical track. In the format writing on the cache memory, the final format writing end position information and the erase flag are updated, and when the data is written into the disk unit from the cache memory by logical track unit, the erase flag is referred and the erasing is performed if it is required. Thus, the area of erasing and the number of times of execution are minimized and the throughput of the data transfer between the processing unit and the rotating storage device is improved.

Lipid is determined quantitatively by treating a sample with a surfactant in an aqueous medium to obtain a liquid sample dispersion, then reacting the dispersion with a reagent containing cupric ion and bicinchoninic acid, and measuring a colored state developed by complex formation of bicinchoninic acid with cuprous ion formed from cupric ion in the presence of lipid. This method can be effectively applied to determination of amphiphilic lipid having a tendency of gathering in an aqueous medium. Further, two different species interfering with each other in quantitative determination thereof are determined respectively by conducting two different determination methods on the same sample followed by calculation using the values obtained.
