摘要: An ink jet head supplies an ejection heater arranged in a liquid path with a driving signal to impart heat energy to ink to thereby generate a bubble therein. The bubble is caused to communicated with the atmospheric air, and ink is ejected through an ejection outlet. A heat keeping circuit supplies the ejection heater with a driving pulse having a time width insufficient for causing ink to be ejected during non-printing period in an appropriate duty corresponding to the head temperature condition, thereby causing the ejection heater to generate heat to effect heat keeping on the head, whereby a low-cost thermal ink jet printing system is provided which does not entail a variation in ejection amount during printing.

摘要: According to the present invention, there is provided an ink jet recording apparatus for recording an image on a recording medium by discharging ink to the surface of the recording medium, wherein ink is reserved in an ink tank including a negative pressure generating member, such as an absorber and a foaming member, and a function of accurately detecting the residual quantity such that depletion to a predetermined level can be detected is realized. Light emitted by a photointerrupter is allowed to pass through a portion of a wall surface of the ink tank made of transparent plastic or the like which is transmissible with respect to detection light emitted by the photointerrupter to detect change in the light reflectance in the boundary portion between the wall surface and the ink absorber. In accordance with reflectance obtained in a case where no ink exists in the detected portion and that obtained in a case where ink exists, the residual quantity of ink can be detected.

摘要: Prior to formation of a latent image on a movable image bearing member, the latent image bearing member is charged to a predetermined potential. Then, the image bearing member is contacted to discharging means, by which the image bearing member id discharged so that a substantially uniform charge potential is provided on the image bearing member. The voltage V2 (V) (0 when grounded) applied to the discharging means, the surface potential V1 (V) of the image bearing member before being discharged by the discharging means, and the charge starting voltage V.sub.TH (V) of the image bearing member satisfy .vertline.V1-V2.vertline..gtoreq..vertline.V.sub.TH .vertline. (V2=) when discharging grounded). By this, the charge moves from the image bearing member to the discharging means. The discharging means may be grounded or may be supplied with a voltage which is low enough not to charge alone the image bearing member. According to this invention, the absolute value of the surface potential of the image bearing member discharged by said discharging means is not dependent on the surface potential of the image bearing member before discharge, and can be made not less than .vertline.V.sub.TH .vertline.. The necessity of conventional uniform discharging means before the primary charge is eliminated so that the cost and the size of the image forming apparatus can be reduced.

摘要: To relate to a head liquid which is supplied to efficiently remove ink residues and the like which are attached to the surface of an inkjet head provided with ejection openings through which an ink containing a color material is ejected. In a case where a nonvolatile solvent such as glycerin is used as the head liquid, the nonvolatile solvent absorbs moisture, and thereby an extremely large change in mass is exhibited. As a result, the above supply amount is varied. To solve the problem, it was found that the previous mixing of water with the nonvolatile solvent can provide a smaller change in mass than that in a case where the nonvolatile solvent by itself is caused to absorb moisture. Accordingly, a mixture prepared by mixing the nonvolatile solvent and water in an appropriate predetermined ratio is used as a head liquid.

摘要: The present invention provides an ink jet printing apparatus that can substantially prevent possible variation in the color of an image on a print medium discharged from an ink jet printing apparatus. A drying condition is determined under which the color of the image varies until the color of the image becomes a target one having a color difference ΔE of at most 3 from a stable color with substantially no temporal variation. The image is dried according to the drying condition. The print medium is then discharged from the printing apparatus. This enables variation in the color of the image on the print medium discharged from the printing apparatus to be prevented from exceeding 3 in terms of color difference ΔE. As a result, a user can be prevented from perceiving variation in color.

摘要: The present invention provides an ink jet printing apparatus and a preliminary ejecting method. In both a full-line and a serial printer, the amount of ink passing through nozzles of print heads is sometimes decreased below a normal value before and during actual printing, In the printer of present invention, a preliminary ejecting operation is performed taking the opportunity in which the amount of ink passing through nozzles is decreased below a normal value. Then, the amount of ink passing through nozzles recovers to the normal value at an ink ejection after the preliminary ejecting operation. Since only a small amount of ink is ejected through the nozzles during the preliminary ejection operation, dots formed on a print sheet are not noticeable. Further, it is unnecessary to move the print heads to a home position where an ejection recovering process is executed to remove ink having an increase viscosity.

摘要: A recording system can take the form of a recording apparatus, a recording method or a program to control the recording apparatus for recording a color image on a recording medium by utilizing a recording head on which a plurality of recording elements are arranged. The recording system uses a plurality of compensation methods to compensate a position to be recorded by a recording element which does not execute a recording operation among the plurality of recording elements and selects an appropriate compensation method. Such recording system can resolve nonuniformity in the recorded image such as white streaks and the like generated by non-eject dots and can make the nonuniformity be unrecognized by the human eye. In addition, the recording system can suppress increase in costs of the recording head and can significantly increase recording rates.
