摘要: A printing machine includes a plurality of inkjet print heads arranged together in a printing unit and controlled by a control unit. At least two of the inkjet print heads are jointly arranged in relation to a stationary position in a transport path at a printing nip. The control unit activates a first inkjet print head when a substrate of a first substrate type moves past the stationary position, and activates a second inkjet print head when a substrate of a second substrate type moves past the stationary position. The first substrate type and the second substrate type differ from each other in material and/or nature of a surface to be printed. The inkjet print heads arranged in the printing unit are each configured to print an ink that comprises at least one colorant, both for the first substrate type and for the second substrate type.

摘要: A method includes providing a printhead for printing an image on a surface from two different printhead positions relative to the surface, the two different printhead positions at first and second orientations, wherein the at least one printhead and the surface move relative to each other along a print path having two potentially overlapping swathes, determining an overlap area on the surface for the two overlapping swathes wherein the overlap area is to be printed on from either of the two different printhead positions, determining for each position in the overlap area at which an inkjet drop may be printed the angle of incidence at the surface of that drop, and selecting a stitch point or region in the overlap area wherein the difference between the angles of incidence at the surface of drops from the two printhead positions is kept within an acceptable limit.

摘要: Printheads and printers are described herein. In one example, a printhead includes a number of drop generators disposed in a first array and a second array. The drop generators in both the first array and the second array are spaced one dot pitch apart perpendicular to the motion of a print medium, and alternate between a high drop weight (HDW) drop generator and a low drop weight (LDW) drop generator. Each drop generator in the first array is in a line of the motion of the print medium with a corresponding drop generator in the second array, wherein each HDW drop generator in the first array is in line with an LDW drop generator in the second array, and each LDW drop generator in the first array is in line with an HDW drop generator in the second array.

摘要: The methods and apparatuses herein relate to inkjet printing a substrate at a desired print resolution. A substrate advances at a first speed under the first printhead and the second printhead such that a desired print resolution exceeds the maximum print resolutions of a first printhead and a second printhead. When the substrate is advancing at the first speed, the first printhead ejects ink onto the advancing substrate at a first firing frequency to create a first printed zone, and the second printhead ejects ink onto the advancing substrate at a second firing frequency to create a second printed zone. In turn, the first printed zone and the second zone together define a printed region having the desired print resolution.
