Abstract:
A method of broadcasting advisory alerts via communications networks where a central notification computer is provided to broadcast advisory alerts to electronic device addresses stored in a subscriber database in a text, oral, pictorial, and computer retrievable format. The subscriber database contains subscriber data sets which each include the electronic device address and at least one geographic location associated with the electronic device address. When an advisory alert is initiated, the affected geographic area is determined, and a geographic area defined by a perimeter is associated with the advisory alert. An algorithm retrieves addresses of the electronic devices associated with geographical locations within the perimeter; and the advisory alert is transmitted to the electronic device addresses associated with geographic locations within the perimeter.
Abstract:
A method for cleaning objects in a pressure vessel with liquefied gases is provided. The gas liquefied under pressure is conducted into the pressure vessel. The temperature of the liquefied gas then, or beforehand, is lowered below the critical temperature of the gas and cleaning is performed at least primarily below the critical temperature and below the critical pressure of the gas. Carbon dioxide at temperatures between −20° C. and +20° C. is especially suitable. The mechanical interactions produced by the increased density and viscosity of the liquefied gas reinforce cleaning. Reduced solvent capacity does not influence the effectiveness of the cleaning. Textiles or components can therefore be cleaned at lower pressure and temperature.

An electroluminescent display is formed from a matrix of organic based light emitting diodes (LEDs) backed by an array of low resistance, high amperage conductors joined to the LED matrix at many points, in order to ensure low voltage drops along each line in line-at-a-time operation of the display. A method of joining the current carrying conductors to the matrix so as not to disturb the LED assembly through mechanical stress is also disclosed.

In a color CRT with an in-line gun and a pin cushion correcting yoke, there is disclosed an eyebrow effect electronoptical distortion correction device comprising two pair of coils, each pair having a coil on each outer electron beam side of the neck in the plane of the beams. The coil pairs are spaced apart along the Z-axis between the gun and the yoke and are driven by a sawtooth current having a bow-tie envelope synchronous with the raster scan to correct the dynamic, antisymmetrical eyebrow effect apparent as a purity defect on the raster.

Abstract:
A touch control system for a cathode ray tube, or other touch-controlled device capable of recognizing touch positions along a predetermined coordinate axis on a three-dimensionally curved touch surface, includes a substrate comprising a segment of a three-dimensionally curved surface having a touch surface capable of propagating surface acoustic waves. An input surface wave transducer serves to launch a collimated beam of surface acoustic wave energy on the touch surface. If undisturbed, the beam would travel along a path that corresponds to a great circle on the curved surface. An output surface wave transducer develops an electrical output signal upon receipt of surface acoustic wave energy derived from the beam. A reflective array is provided which establishes travel of the beam of energy along a desired path on the touch surface having a contour intermediate a great circle and a parallel. The array has the property of reducing the velocity of surface acoustic wave energy configured and of sufficient density to produce within the array a wave guiding action upon the beam of acoustic wave energy along the desired path effective to confine the beam of energy to the desired path having the intermediate contour.
Abstract:
An improved light collector, for collecting the light in a plurality of parallel light beams directed across the display surface of a touch panel apparatus and for redirecting it in a direction substantially perpendicular to the light beams for detection by a common detector positioned adjacent one end of the collector, comprises an elongated strip of light transmissive material terminated by a light collection station. A plurality of light reflecting elements is disposed inside and spaced along one side of the strip and each has a transverse dimension small in comparison to cross-section of the strip. The surface of each reflecting element is tilted with respect to the longitudinal axis of the strip. A like plurality of focusing elements is also disposed along the strip and each such element is individually associated with an assigned one of the reflecting elements. Each of the focusing elements is oriented and configured to collect light received in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the strip and to direct such collected light to its assigned reflecting element. Each of the focusing elements is spaced from its assigned reflecting element a distance such that the reflecting element is positioned at, or close to, the focal plane of its assigned focusing element. Each reflecting element is so tilted as to direct light received from its assigned focusing element to the light collection station.
Abstract:
Indexing means are disclosed for use in the indexing of components having planar mating areas. The indexing means comprising three V-grooves located in the mating area of a first of said components, and three indexing protuberances fixed in the mating area of a second of said components in apposition to said V-grooves for mating in registration with said V-grooves. The indexing means according to the invention are characterized by the grooves each having a subtended angle in the range of 34 to 75 degrees, and preferably, 53 degrees. The indexing means according to the invention are especially suited for application to television manufacturing, particularly in the precision indexing components of a color cathode ray tube having a tension foil shadow mask. 2CRT61M
Abstract:
Apparatus for use in a touch control system capable of recognizing touch positions along a predetermined coordinate axis on a touch surface comprises a substrate having such a surface that is capable of propagating surface acoustic waves and is so characterized that a touch thereon causes a perturbation of a surface wave propagating through the region of the touch. An input transducer coupled to that surface launches a multiplicity of different frequency SAW's along a first path on the surface. A dispersive array of SAW reflective elements formed along a first path on the substrate surface derives a plurality of different frequency wave components from the launched SAW. Each derived component is reflected from a different location along the array. The components are directed across the touch surface in a progression of paths transverse to and intersecting the coordinate axis so that each path corresponds to a component of a predetermined different frequency CODE 13TS.
Abstract:
Apparatus for use in a touch control system for a cathode ray tube, display panel or other touch-controlled device which is capable of recognizing touch positions along a predetermined coordinate axis on a curved touch surface comprises a substrate comprising a sector of a three dimensionally curved surface having a touch surface capable of propagating surface acoustic waves such that a touch on that surface causes a perturbation of a surface wave propagating through the region of the touch. An input surface wave transducer mechanically and acoustically coupled to the touch surface of the substrate, upon excitation launches a burst of surface acoustic waves on the touch surface along a first path which represents a great circle on that surface. The apparatus also includes an array of surface wave reflective elements which are disposed in or on the touch surface of the substrate along the aforesaid first path for directing wave components derived from the burst across the touch surface of the substrate in a progression of transverse paths which intersect the coordinate axis of that surface.
