摘要： A heating device includes an endless belt, an opposed rotator, a heater, and a heat transfer portion. The opposed rotator is configured to contact the endless belt to form a nip between the endless belt and the opposed rotator. The heater includes a plurality of resistive heat generators configured to heat the endless belt. The heater is configured to generate a larger amount of heat on a first side of the heater than a second side of the heater in a longitudinal direction of the heater. The first side is opposite to the second side with respect to a center position of a heating span of all the plurality of energized resistive heat generators in the longitudinal direction of the heater. The heat transfer portion is disposed on the first side to release heat from the heating span.

A holder holds the heater and the elastic body. A pressure rotator is disposed opposite the heater and the elastic body via the endless rotator to form a nip between the endless rotator and the pressure rotator. A motion restrictor is mounted on the holder. The motion restrictor restricts motion of the heater downstream in the rotation direction of the endless rotator.

A pressure rotator presses against the fixing belt to form a nip between the fixing belt and the pressure rotator. A heater is disposed opposite an inner circumferential surface of the fixing belt and heats the fixing belt. A contact member contacts the fixing belt partially in a longitudinal direction of the fixing belt. A holder holds the heater. The heater contacts the holder with a first contact amount in a first span in a longitudinal direction of the heater, where the contact member contacts the fixing belt. The heater contacts the holder with a second contact amount, that is greater than the first contact amount, in a second span in the longitudinal direction of the heater, where the contact member does not contact the fixing belt.

摘要： A fixing device includes a rotatable fixing member; a heating source configured to heat the fixing member; an opposing member configured to come into contact with an outer circumferential surface of the fixing member to form a nip portion; and a shielding member configured to block heat from the heating source. The shielding member is configured to rotate about a position different from the center of the heating source so as to be movable between a shielding position and a retraction position. The shielding position is a position where the shielding member comes close to the heating source to block heat from the heating source to the fixing member. The retraction position being a position where the shielding member is retracted away from the shielding position.

摘要： A method for processing images comprises the steps of performing the reception of data through the net work, inputting image data obtainable in accordance with the designated input mode, managing the storage of the data received in the receiving step and the image data inputted in the input step to the memory, and intervening between the operations of the reception step and the input step in accordance with the storage management in the controlling step. With the method thus structured, the compression ratio of the input image is heightened by changing the current photographing mode if the added value of the estimated reception data through communicating means and the data side of photographed image predetermined by the current photographing mode should exceed the remainders of memory in the storage, hence making it possible to implement the compatibility of immediacy between the image input and the communication by dealing with any sudden reception during photographing.
