摘要: A health care service (HCS) network comprising a hand held optical reader for reading a target having information bearing indicia provided thereon and generating therefrom a decoded out indicia data message to a base unit which receives the message and transmits the message to a workstation in communication with a network server for storing the decoded out indicia data messages. The network is configured so that the server communicates non indicia data messages with the base unit which is passed to the optical reader, wherein the optical reader display is configured to display the non indicia data messages. The network is configured so that the hand held indicia reader and the base unit have a linking mode wherein a request to link is sent from the optical reader to the server through the base unit by way of wireless communication to associate the optical reader with the server.

摘要: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for configuring an imaging system to compensate for fixed pattern noise, variations in pixel values captured from an image sensor that vary according to a fixed pattern. In a method for configuring an imaging system for compensating an additive term component of fixed pattern noise, a pixel array is exposed to a scene of known radiance and an average white value is determined for each pixel of an array. Each average white value is compared to a predetermined reference value to determine a correction value for each pixel. In a method for configuring an imaging system for compensating both an additive and multiplicative component of fixed pattern noise, a pixel array is exposed to a first scene having a first known radiance, and frames of the scene are captured, and then the array is exposed to a second scene having a second known radiance and frames of the second scene are captured. After first and second average white values are determined for each pixel additive and multiplicative term correction values for each pixel are then determined by solving for a system of equations relating the first and second average white values and first and second scene radiances. Correction values can be utilized to correct pixel values of a frame of image data, and a decoding algorithm for attempting to decode a frame of image data including corrected pixel values can be activated.

摘要: In the present invention, an optical reader image sensor is adapted to clock out image data from an image sensor according to “low resolution” mode of operation in order to reduce a parameter determination delay of the reader. In a low resolution mode, some pixels of the readers image sensor array are clock out at normal clock out speed sufficient to develop electrical signals accurately reflecting the intensity of light at the respective pixel positions, while other pixels of the array are either not clocked out or are clocked out at a higher clock out rate which may be insufficient to allow development of electrical signals that accurately represent light incident on the image sensor's sensor array but which nevertheless, results in a reduction of the overall frame clock out rate of the frame of image data. An optical reader according to the invention operates in a low resolution frame clock out mode to capture a low resolution parameter determining frame of image data at high speed, reads pixel data from the parameter determination frame to determine an operation parameter based on actual illumination conditions, then utilizes the operation parameter in operating an optical reader.
