    摘要: An optical information medium is provided. The medium comprises a supporting substrate, an information recording layer thereon, and a light-transmitting layer thereon and a recording or reading laser beam enters the recording layer through the light-transmitting layer, and in such medium, recording/reading characteristics are improved when the beam spot of a laser beam has a small diameter and the linear velocity is high with the function of the light-transmitting layer to protect the information recording layer maintained at a sufficient level. Also provided is a medium wherein storage stability is improved. In the optical information medium comprising a supporting substrate, an information recording layer thereon, and a light-transmitting layer on the information recording layer wherein a recording or reading laser beam enters the information recording layer through the light-transmitting layer, the light-transmitting includes at least one resin layer, and has a tensile yield stress of 20 to 100 MPa and tensile strain at yield of 0.1 to 15%.

The apparatus includes a rotating table (2) for holding and rotating the substrate (100) having the information recording layer borne thereon, a plug means (3) including a disk member (31) for closing the center hole (101) and an integral support shaft (32), and a nozzle (4) for feeding a coating fluid containing the resin to the outer periphery of the support shaft (32), wherein the coating fluid is flowed from the support shaft to the disk member, then over the substrate, thereby forming the light-transmitting layer having a minimized thickness variation.

Simple recording and reading control by a recording and reading unit is also achieved. The multilayer optical recording medium includes at least three or more recording and reading layers deposited one above the other with intermediate layers interposed therebetween, and information can be read by light irradiation from the layers. The intermediate layers have film thicknesses of two types or less, and all the recording and reading layers except the recording and reading layer farthest from a light incident surface have substantially the same optical constant.

    摘要: An optical recording and reading method is provided in which the information necessary for recording and reading layers is quickly acquired to reduce the seek time during reading and recording. The optical recording and reading method is used for an optical recording medium that includes a plurality of recording and reading layers and a servo layer. Information is recorded on or read from the recording and reading layers by irradiating them with a recording and reading beam while the servo layer is irradiated with a servo beam to perform tracking control. When information is recorded on the recording and reading layers, control information necessary for subsequent recording and reading to be performed on the recording and reading layers is recorded on the servo layer 18. When the subsequent recording or reading is performed, the control information on the servo layer is consulted, and then the recording or reading is performed on the recording and reading layers.
