Abstract: This disclosure relates to dynamic baseband management for a wireless device. The wireless device may be an accessory device. The accessory device may determine whether it has a short-range wireless communication link with a companion device. The accessory device may determine one or more proximity metrics relating to the companion device. The accessory device may further determine one or more metrics associated with user settings, user activity and/or application activity at the wireless device. The wireless device may select a (e.g., full, limited, or off) baseband operating mode based on any or all of these considerations.

Abstract: A wireless communication device (UE) may perform wireless communications according to at least a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT. When the UE is in idle-mode, it may determine whether to bias a RAT selection policy—which may be presently favoring networks operating according to the first RAT—towards the second RAT, based on one or more of the following: first information indicative of a quality of previous wireless communications performed by the UE according to the first RAT, second information indicative of an overall quality of wireless communications performed according to the first RAT by the UE over a specified period of time at a specific location where the UE is presently located, and/or third information indicative of an overall quality of wireless communications performed according to the first RAT by other UEs presently located at the specific location.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to wireless connection management for an accessory device. A companion device and the accessory device may establish a wireless link. The companion device may associate with a Wi-Fi access point. The companion device may determine whether the Wi-Fi access point supports access by the accessory device to a wide area network. The companion device may determine whether to provide association information for the Wi-Fi access point to the accessory device based at least in part on whether the Wi-Fi access point supports access by the accessory device to the wide area network. The companion device may monitor whether the Wi-Fi access point continues to support access by the accessory device to the wide area network, and may indicate to the accessory device to disassociate with the Wi-Fi access point if the Wi-Fi access point no longer supports access by the accessory device to the wide area network.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE), base station and a corresponding method for receiving historical data from a diagnostic server, receiving location data of the UE, determining a probability of a failed handover during a call based on the historical data and the location data, comparing the probability of the failed handover to a threshold value and initiating a call handover to a wireless local area network when the probability of the failed handover exceeds the threshold value. Also, a UE, base station and corresponding method for determining if one or more UEs have an active voice over WiFi call or if the UEs are registered with a Internet protocol (“IP”) multimedia subsystem (“IMS”) over WiFi and biasing a cell reselection procedure of the UE to select a cell of a packet switched network such as LTE.

Abstract: A device, system, and method uses a high power mode for a cellular connection. The method is performed at a device that is configured to establish a network connection to a network. The method includes detecting a number of at least one event that has occurred over a time period, the at least one event associated with operations used through the network connection, the at least one event indicative of a power to perform the operations that is greater than a predetermined power. When the number is at least a predetermined threshold, the method includes identifying the network connection as being in a high power state. The method includes activating settings when the network connection is in the high power state, the settings reducing a usage of the operations over the network connection.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a cellular baseband processor communicates wirelessly and reports cellular metrics for both a first cellular RAT and a second cellular RAT. The cellular baseband processor may be configured to tune away, for a time interval, from the first cellular RAT to monitor for communications on the second cellular RAT. In some embodiments, the cellular baseband processor is configured not to report cellular metrics during the time interval to prevent a RAT manager from setting up a connection for voice calls on a WLAN RAT during the time interval. In some embodiments another processing element the RAT manager is configured to ignore cellular metrics from the cellular baseband processor during the interval. This may reduce signal load and power consumption, in some embodiments.
