摘要: An orthodontic appliance including a series of orthodontic brackets configured to be secured to the teeth of patient, the brackets having slots for supporting an orthodontic arch wire, and an orthodontic arch wire extending through the slots. The orthodontic arch wire is arch-shaped and includes posterior segments and an anterior segment connecting the posterior segments. Either the anterior segment, or the entire arch wire, has a non-symmetrical, trapezoidal cross-section, and can be supported by bracket slots having either a rectangular or non-symmetrical trapezoidal shape.

摘要: An orthodonic archwire and method of making same. The archwire through a unique combination of physical and material properties can be activated for providing a variety of teeth corrective forces simultaneously. The archwire is provided with a pair of loop structures substantially equidistant from the center line of the arch form., The posterior sections of the archwire are curved in two directions so as to provide both toe in forces, for rotation of the posterior teeth, and forces for extrusion of the posterior teeth and bite opening. The method of manufacturing the archwire is such that substantially no residual torque is present in the finally formed archwire.

摘要: A metallic orthodontic wire is coated with a layer of tooth color material and a clear layer of material covers the tooth color material to allow the tooth color material to be seen through the layer of clear material. A preferred material for the tooth color layer is a plastic such as polyethylene or polyurethane. A preferred material for the clear layer is a silicone elastomer. Several processes for fabricating various embodiments of coated metal orthodontic wires are also disclosed.

摘要: An orthodontic wire bending device including a wire guiding unit and a wire bending unit; the wire guiding unit including a convoying system and an exit, and the wire bending unit including at least one wire bending member able to turn around a center of rotation, such that, when the wire comes out of the exit of the wire guiding unit a rotation of the at least one of the bending members around the center of rotation results in the bending of the wire.

摘要: The present invention relates to an orthodontic gripping device having a body made of a superelastic metal alloy, cold worked titanium beta III, or solution heat treated and aged titanium beta III. The body has first and second, spaced apart arm portions connected to each other. Each arm portion includes a jaw portion having an inner, arch wire-gripping, surface. The inner gripping surfaces are disposed opposite one another in spaced relation with a station defined therebetween for receiving the arch wire. At least a portion of the station is sized smaller than the arch wire. The arm portions are resiliently deflectable outwardly away from each other to admit the arch wire into the station. Once seated in the station, the arch wire is tightly held by inner gripping surfaces so as to resist displacement of the gripping device relative to the arch wire.

摘要: An orthodontic appliance and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the present technology includes a positioning member configured to position an orthodontic appliance during installation in the patient's mouth. The positioning member may comprise a first portion configured to be coupled to the patient's teeth and a second portion extending away from the first portion. The second portion may be configured to be detachably coupled to the orthodontic appliance. While the positioning member is coupled to the orthodontic appliance, the positioning member is configured to be positioned in the patient's mouth and coupled to the patient's teeth, thereby positioning the orthodontic appliance at a desired location adjacent a patient's oral anatomy.

摘要: Process for programming an orthodontic component from a shape memory material starting from an initial shape of the orthodontic component into a target shape to be programmed of the orthodontic component, wherein the target shape compared to the initial shape at least sectionally has a severe bending, the process comprising the following steps:
a. providing an orthodontic component (1) of a shape memory material in an initial shape,
b. creating a target baking mold for the orthodontic component (1),
c. inserting the orthodontic component (1) into the target baking mold, and
d. baking the orthodontic component (1) in the target baking mold in order to program it into the target shape,
characterized by the following steps after step a)
e. creating at least one intermediate baking mold for the orthodontic component (1), in which intermediate baking mold the orthodontic component (1) has an intermediate shape between the initial shape and the target shape,
f. inserting the orthodontic component (1) into the intermediate baking mold, and
g. baking the orthodontic component (1) in the intermediate baking mold.
