Abstract: An orthodontic appliance and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the present technology includes a positioning member configured to position an orthodontic appliance during installation in the patient's mouth. The positioning member may comprise a first portion configured to be coupled to the patient's teeth and a second portion extending away from the first portion. The second portion may be configured to be detachably coupled to the orthodontic appliance. While the positioning member is coupled to the orthodontic appliance, the positioning member is configured to be positioned in the patient's mouth and coupled to the patient's teeth, thereby positioning the orthodontic appliance at a desired location adjacent a patient's oral anatomy.

The appliance includes an arch shaped member; a plurality of spring members coupled to or provided on the arch shaped member; and a plurality of securing members for securing to a corresponding plurality of the patient's teeth on a one-to-one basis, the securing members being supported by the arch shaped member. The arch shaped member and the plurality of springs, together, comprise a two dimensional structure having a length dimension and a width dimension with varying widths along the length dimension, that is bent into a three dimensional structure.

Abstract: The present technology comprises methods of manufacturing an orthodontic appliance. For example, a method can include forming an orthodontic appliance in an intermediate configuration by a casting process. The method can further include securing the appliance to a shape forming fixture such that the appliance assumes a desired configuration. The shape forming fixture can comprise a gingiva portion including a surface having a shape corresponding at least in part to a gingiva of a patient and a securing portion carried by the gingiva portion and configured to releasably secure to a portion of the appliance. The method can further include setting a shape of the appliance while the appliance is secured to the shape forming fixture.

Abstract: Orthodontic appliances, systems, and methods are disclosed herein. In some examples, an orthodontic appliance can include an anchor configured to be adjacent to the patients teeth and a plurality of arms extending away from and coupled to the anchor, the arms configured to be secured to the patient s teeth. According to embodiments of the present technology, methods for determining a design of an orthodontic appliance can include virtually deforming an appliance digital model based on an anatomy digital model and, based on an output of the virtual deformation, modifying one or more digital models or producing a final design of an orthodontic appliance. If one or more digital models is modified, the method is repeated until a final design is produced.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for orthodontic treatment planning and orthodontic treatment are disclosed herein. Various embodiments of the present technology, for example, are directed to a method of obtaining data characterizing movements of a patient's teeth from original positions to desired, final positions. In some embodiments, the method can include identifying one or more components of the movements, evaluating the movements, and/or modifying the movements. A method in accordance with several embodiments of the present technology can comprise obtaining an orthodontic treatment plan, which can include one or more suggested interventions to accomplish the tooth movements, a design of such intervention(s), and/or other useful information regarding the orthodontic treatment. In some embodiments, a method of the present technology comprises evaluating an orthodontic treatment during and/or after implementation of the treatment, which can include obtaining data characterizing current positions of the patient's teeth. Based on the evaluation, the method can include obtaining another orthodontic treatment plan and movement data characterizing movements of a patient's teeth from their current positions to desired, final positions.

Abstract: Orthodontic appliances and methods of manufacturing are disclosed. Manufacturing an appliance can include obtaining position data corresponding to an original tooth arrangement (OTA) of a patient's teeth, obtaining data corresponding to a desired final tooth arrangement (FTA) of the patient's teeth, and determining displacements between the OTA data and the FTA data. Based on the determined displacements, a configuration of an orthodontic appliance is determined. The appliance includes an anchor configured to be positioned adjacent the patient's teeth, and a plurality of arms each extending away from and coupled to the anchor, the arms configured to be secured to the patient's teeth. When the appliance is installed, the arms urge individual teeth from the OTA toward the FTA.

Abstract: Orthodontic systems are disclosed herein. According to some embodiments, the present technology includes a securing member configured to be secured to a patient's tooth and an orthodontic appliance comprising a resiliently deformable attachment portion configured to be releasably secured to the securing member. The attachment portion can be moveable between an attached state in which the orthodontic appliance exerts active and/or retentive orthodontic force on the tooth via the attachment portion and the securing member when the securing member is secured to the tooth and a detached state in which the orthodontic appliance is operably disconnected from the securing member. The securing member can comprise a plurality of protrusions configured to engage the attachment portion when the attachment portion is in the attached state.
