    摘要: A controller for an electromagnetic actuator is provided that enables detection of a minute movement of the armature leaving the seating position and carries out pullback operation responsive to such detection. The electromagnetic actuator has a pair of springs acting on opposite directions, and an armature coupled to a mechanical element such as a exhaust/intake valve of an automobile engine. The armature is held in a neutral position given by the springs when the actuator is not activated. The actuator includes a pair of electromagnets for driving the armature between two end positions. The controller having current supplying means for supplying holding current to the electromagnet corresponding to one of the end positions when holding the armature in said one of the end positions. The controller includes determining that the armature is leaving (falling or lifting) the seated position when the holding current increases more than a predetermined value while the holding current is supplied to the electromagnet corresponding to said end position. Leaving armature is detected based on the variation of the holding current, which allows earlier detection of the leaving armature.

    摘要: An improved pilot stage includes a flapper having first and second ends, first and second nozzles in fluid communication with the first and second ends, and a magnetic torque motor having a first coil which is magnetically coupled to the first end of the flapper. An input current to the first coil creates a magnetic torque on the flapper, causing the flapper to pivot. The torque input from the magnetic circuit is reflected through the pivot to create a balancing differential pressure output at the nozzles proportional to the input electrical signal. The flapper does not require a torsion bar (or tube) pivot or a separate armature, as required by functionally similar pilot stages.

    摘要: A solenoid with improved pull-in and landing characteristics. As a solenoid armature closes toward contact with the pole faces of a yoke, a geometric redistribution of a constant total flux causes the force to increase with decreasing gap. Latching force at saturation is maximized when the latching contact area matches the tightest bottleneck in the flux path. The addition of ferromagnetic area not making latching contact preserves the maximum latching force, increases power efficiency for pulling at a distance, and increases the flux redistribution effect of increasing force with decreasing gap at constant flux. The extra constant-flux force change at small gaps may be abrupt, for a high deceleration followed by a quick passive force increase to latch with low impact, or gradual, for tight servo control and very low impact. Conductive material can provide selective inductive damping near latching. Armature mass can be kept low despite the extra ferromagnetic area.
