Provided is a production process for a colorant which contains a silicon phthalocyanine compound making it possible to reach a targeted particle diameter even by a conventional dispersing method and which is excellent in performances such as a color reproducibility, a light fastness, an electrostatic property, a transparency and the like, and a colorant composition, a toner, an ink for ink jet recording and a color filter which are excellent in the above performances.The above production process is a production process for a colorant containing a silicon phthalocyanine compound and a copper phthalocyanine compound and is characterized by having a preparing step of reacting raw materials of a silicon compound and phthalocyanine under the presence of a copper salt or the copper phthalocyanine compound described above to prepare the silicon phthalocyanine compound described above.

A toner set for electrostatic image development includes a cyan toner, a magenta toner, and a yellow toner, wherein the Vicat softening temperatures of the toners are respectively in the range of from about 30° C. to about 60° C., and among the toners, the difference between the Vicat softening temperature of the toner having the highest Vicat softening temperature and the Vicat softening temperature of the toner having the lowest Vicat softening temperature is from about 1° C. to about 5° C.

Disclosed is a metal complex pigment-containing toner, wherein a pigment dispersion index (A) determined as a standard deviation of an X-ray fluorescence intensity, per unit area of toner particle surface, of a central metal of the metal complex pigment contained in the toner is less than 2 [cps/(KeV·μm2)], and a pigment surface dispersion index (B) obtained by dividing an average value of the X-ray fluorescence intensity by an X-ray fluorescence intensity of the central metal of the metal complex pigment in the entire composition of the toner as measured by an X-ray fluorescence analysis for analyzing deep internal regions is more than 0.027 [cps/(KeV·μm2·kcps)]. In this toner, the pigment is moderately dispersed on the surface side of the toner particles uniformly at a high concentration, and therefore, the coloring power thereof is improved.
