    摘要: A method for controlling integration for a CDMA signal and a receiver implementing the same. In accordance with the present invention, non-coherent and even coherent integration periods for a received signal are dynamically and adaptively controlled depending upon the condition of the received signal. The integration period can be very short when signal strength is strong and no blocking exists; while it can be extended to be longer when the signal strength is weak or there is a blocking. Therefore, it is possible to keep locking even under bad circumstances. In addition, the fix time can be shortened when the signal strength is very strong.

    摘要: Techniques for detecting acquisition of a false channel in a wireless communication system are described. For false channel detection, a peak corresponding to a signal from a base station is initially detected. Frequency acquisition and time tracking of the peak are then performed. The frequency acquisition attempts to determine and correct downconversion frequency error. The time tracking attempts to follow the peak as it moves due to sample timing error and/or changes in channel conditions. Whether the signal is from a desired frequency channel or a false frequency channel is determined based on the time tracking. If a false channel is acquired, then the sampling timing will be either too slow or too fast, and the peak will move at a fast rate. A false channel may be detected based on the movement of the peak.

    摘要: In a remote unit of a wireless communication system, the speed of acquisition, or reacquisition, of a pilot signal by a search engine is increased. PN space is divided into segments and a coarse search of each segment is performed using a set of “fast” search parameters. A set of peak signal strengths, along with their corresponding PN offsets, is saved for each segment of PN space. Following the search of all segments of PN space, the peak signal strengths which were saved during the coarse acquisition are evaluated. Coarse acquisition search results are used by the remote unit to determine fine search window parameters for subsequent searches performed by the remote unit search engine. The fine search parameters concentrate searching efforts on portions of PN space most likely to contain a viable base station pilot signal.

    摘要: A GPS receiver and method using alternating “A” and “B” integration time segments. The polarities of certain GPS data bits are known beforehand and their expected reception times are known. The GPS signal in 10 millisecond “A” time segments and “B” time segments is depolarized according to the known polarities. The depolarized GPS signal during an “A” time period made up of all the “A” time segments is integrated for providing an “A” time period magnitude for each code phase. Likewise, the depolarized GPS signal during a “B” time period made up of all the “B” time segments is integrated for providing a “B” time period magnitude for each potential GPS code phase. The strongest of the time period magnitudes is compared to a correlation threshold for selecting a code phase for signal acquisition.

    摘要: A novel and improved method for performing paging is described. In one embodiment of the invention a searcher is used to detect spread spectrum signals. Samples received RF signals are stored in a sample buffer. During standby mode, the samples are gathered during paging slots assigned to the mobile. A set of searches are performed on the samples, and if pilot signals are detected additional demodulation is performed to detect paging messages. The resulting set of demodulation data may be combined to increase detection. After a page message has been detected, additional demodulation resources may be activated to processes more complete page messages, or other information channels. In one embodiment of the invention, the searcher includes a demodulator to perform quick page detection without the use of finger elements to reduce idle mode power consumption.
