An image forming apparatus includes a document reading unit, an image forming unit, an image data saving unit, a correction instruction detection unit, an image correction unit, and a controller. The document reading unit reads an image on a source document and acquires image data. The image forming unit prints an image on a recording sheet according to the image data. The image data saving unit saves the image data of image printed by the image forming unit on the recording sheet. The correction instruction detection unit detects the correction instruction written on the recording sheet on which the image is printed. The image correction unit corrects the image data stored in the image data saving unit, according to the correction instruction detected by the detection unit. The controller causes the image forming unit to print an image representing the image data corrected by the image correction unit.

Methods and systems for processing inbound fax messages in an efficient and scalable manner are provided. According to one embodiment, an inbound fax call is received by an Internet fax system. The fax call has a source address, a destination address and a fax signal. The Internet fax system is coupled to a circuit-switched network and a packet-switched network and includes multiple fax processing resources having different configurations, features, capabilities or capacities. One or more desired fax protocol technical call processing capabilities are determined for processing the fax signal based on one or more of the source address, the destination address, the type of network through which the fax call was received and a service provider through which the fax call was received. Then, a fax processing resource that has the desired fax protocol technical processing capabilities is dynamically selected to translate the fax signal into a digital representation.

A relaying device may be configured to communicate with an image processing device and a server via a network. The relaying device may receive, from the image processing device, process identification information. The selected data process may be executed on output data outputted from the image processing device or the server. The relaying device may identify an instruction-module as a selected instruction-module from among a plurality of instruction-modules. The relaying device may execute the selected instruction-module so as to execute the selected data process on the output data. The relaying device may transmit processed data to the server in a case that the output data is outputted from the image processing device. The relaying device may transmit the processed data to the image processing device in a case that the output data is outputted from the server.

A disclosed managing apparatus and image forming apparatus management system ensure confidentiality of information in an image forming apparatus while usability is maintained. An image forming apparatus acquires IC card identifying information with an IC card reader. A management server acquires a user ID associated with the acquired IC card identifying information and use limit information concerning use of the image forming apparatus. A process is performed in the image forming apparatus in accordance with the use limit information.
Abstract:
An imaging apparatus and an imaging method supply an optimum amount of image data to another apparatus. When a PDA has a maximum transfer rate of 1.5 Mbps, a mobile phone determines that the maximum speed of communication with the PDA is low, reduces the amount of moving image data captured by a CCD of the mobile phone accordingly, and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA. The PDA therefore displays a low-quality moving image on its display unit. When the PDA has a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbps, the CPU of the mobile phone leaves unchanged the amount of moving picture data captured by the CCD and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA. The PDA then displays a high-quality moving image on its display unit. The foregoing may be advantageously applied to digital cameras.

The generator generates print image data for printing an image, based on image data sent from an external device. The storage stores the print image data. The image data format converter converts the print image data into image data in a format handled by an external device. The sender sends the converted image data via an IP (internet protocol) network to the external device. The image data format converter performs one of color space conversion, expansion, compression, resolution conversion, filtering, halftone processing, density gamma conversion, and noise removal in accordance with parameters determined based on at least one of property information of the print image data and property information requested by the external device.
