Abstract:
In an image reader that can adjust a distance between a platen glass and a close-contact-type image sensor (CIS) without disassembly, a CIS unit includes a CIS and a resilient body which biases the CIS toward the platen glass. A CIS roller holder includes a spacer, and a CIS holder which holds the spacer movably in the vertical direction as well as in the sub scanning direction with respect to the platen glass and is fixed to the CIS unit. Irregularities are formed on surfaces of the CIS holder and the spacer which face each other and are engageable by fitting. When the CIS unit is moved in the sub scanning direction and the CIS roller holder is brought into contact with one rib ,the CIS roller holder is brought into contact with the spacer at projections or recesses, thus changing a distance between the platen glass and the CIS.
Abstract:
A lamp protection device of an optical image scanner is disclosed. The lamp protection device comprises a chassis having a lamp holder and a lamp therein and buffer means for absorbing shock on lamp. The chassis moves under a transparent sheet of the optical image scanner and scan a document places on the transparent sheet. The buffer means for absorbing shock on lamp contact and provides the lamp with damping when said chassis end scanning and is locked.
Abstract:
A carrier device for a contact image sense optical scanner. The carrier device incorporates a pair of magnets with identical poles facing each other or a fluid filled sealed chamber for exerting an equal pressure on a scanning module within the scanner and maintaining close contact with a document platform throughout a scanning operation.
Abstract:
A sheet conveying apparatus and an original reading apparatus according to the present invention can reduce a load of a drive system for rotating a convey rotary member and can be made compact. The apparatus includes an original convey roller rotatably supported by a frame, and a contact sensor holder rockably held by a contact sensor rotation shaft regulated in a thickness-wise direction of an original by a contact sensor holder rotation shaft holding portion of the frame and adapted to hold a second contact sensor in a confronting relation to the original convey roller. The second contact sensor is urged against the original convey roller by an urging spring.
Abstract:
There is provided an image scanner in which no shock is applied to a carrier moving an image sensor when the carrier is moved between an automatic document feeder and a contact glass on which an original document is placed. The image sensor is pressed against the contact glass by a spring. A plurality of rollers are provided between the image sensor and the contact glass so that the image sensor is pressed against the contact glass via the rollers. The rollers are separated from the contact glass by a separating member when the image sensor passes an area between the contact glass and the automatic document feeder. A housing of the image scanner is made of a plastic.
