摘要： An automatic tuning apparatus, such as an automatic channel selector as incorporated in a television receiver, comprising a tuner using a voltage controlled variable capacitance diode such that the variable capacitance thereof constitutes a portion of a tuning circuit of the tuner for changing the tuning frequency thereof, and a solid state electrochemical potential memory device, an output voltage of which is applied to the capacitance diode in a reverse direction, which memory device is controlled so as to be charged or discharged in response to selective manual operation until an increased or decreased terminal voltage thereof decreases or increases, respectively the capacitance across the diode and thus increases or decreases, respectively the tuning frequency of the tuner and a particular frequency is tuned. An intermediate frequency output, obtained as a result of tuning, is used to disable the abovementioned charging or discharging operation of the potential memory device.

摘要： A channel indicia display device for use in a TV receiver or the like comprising a fixed mask with a transparent window therein and spaced therefrom, indicia carrying means preferably in the form of a rotatable disc. The indicia carrying means has situated thereon two rings of indicia such as numerals representative of each of the channels and is movable to bring selected indicia on both of the rings sequentially into alignment with the viewing station. Interposed between the window and the indicia carrying means are means for rendering visible selected indicia alternatively from one ring and then the other in the form of a rotatable mask having two rings of alternating transparent and opaque portions. Means are provided for driving the visibility rendering means and the indicia carrying means in synchronized fashion such that the movement of the indicia carrying means causes the visibility rendering means to permit visibility of only the single indicia on the indicia carrying means corresponding to the channel to which the receiver is tuned.

摘要： A partitioned indicia carrier having a flange or ridge about the periphery thereof is mated with a transparent cover whose rear surface approaches the peripheral flange. A knob having a shank extending therefrom engages the cover and indicia carrier such that they rotate with the knob. Thin, resilient indicia are deformably inserted between the retaining and the cover disc. New indicia may be inserted in front of existing ones, or existing indicia may be removed by flexing the cover away from the carrier to enlarge the gap between the rear of the cover disc and the peripheral ridge of the retainer disc.

摘要： A clock having an indicating assembly with phosphorescent indicia for emitting visible light when exposed to ultraviolet radiation, and preferably combined with a radio receiver, is provided with a light tube which emits ultraviolet radiation directed against the phosphorescent indicia. Such light tube is preferably disposed between the indicating assembly of the clock and a filter plate which bars the passage of ultraviolet radiation therethrough towards the viewer. The light tube desirably includes a sealed tubular envelope interiorly coated with a phosphor for emitting the ultraviolet radiation when excited by a discharge between main electrodes within the opposite end portions of the envelope, and auxiliary electrodes are disposed adjacent the main electrodes for the generation of ions therebetween by which the main discharge is promoted. The auxiliary electrodes are preferably connected with respective resistors which are disposed adjacent the end portions of the envelope for heating the elctrodes therein.
