摘要: A coherent optical reception device includes a local oscillation laser that supplies laser light, a coherent optical reception front-end unit that receives a multi-level modulated optical signal, demodulates the optical signal on the basis of the laser light, and converts a demodulated optical signal into an electrical analog signal, an analog-to-digital converter that converts the analog signal into a digital signal, a compensation unit that compensates for an influence of dispersion due to a wavelength or a polarized wave of the optical signal and recovers a carrier phase of the digital signal, a constellation distortion compensation unit that compensates for constellation distortion of the multi-level modulation included in the digital signal in which an influence of dispersion is compensated for by the compensation unit, and an error correction decoding unit that performs error correction of the digital signal in which the constellation distortion is compensated for.

摘要: In the optical transmission system to transmit optical signals using a plurality of adjacent paths, it is difficult to detect a delay difference between a plurality of paths and chromatic dispersion with a high degree of accuracy due to a crosstalk; therefore, a method for detecting optical signal information according to an exemplary aspect of the present invention includes generating a plurality of data signal sequences corresponding to a plurality of paths multiplexed spatially, each of the plurality of data signal sequences obtained by inserting periodically a training signal with a plurality of frequency components in a data signal, in the plurality of data signal sequences, the training signals respectively included in the data signal sequences to be propagated through adjacent paths at least having different frequency components from each other at the same timing, each of a plurality of the training signals included in one of the data signal sequences having the plurality of frequency components whose frequency difference differing depending on a position to be inserted; and calculating a propagation delay difference between the plurality of paths and chromatic dispersion amounts in the plurality of paths from the plurality of frequency components included in the training signals having been propagated through the plurality of paths by optical signals.

摘要: Technology for fiber parameter identification in an optical communications network is described. One or more C-matrices are calculated from one or more corresponding signals received at a receiver from a transmitter over a link in the optical communications network, where each C-matrix comprises a plurality of C-coefficients representative of nonlinear noise in the received signal. A combination of chromatic dispersion (CD) pre-compensation applied at the transmitter and CD post-compensation applied at the receiver may substantially compensate for a net CD of the link. The one or more C-matrices are used to identify one or more fiber parameter estimates of the link, such as one or more fiber types, one or more nonlinear coefficients, or one or more dispersion coefficients. A controller of the optical communications network may use the identified fiber parameters estimates to control a state of the network to achieve an objective, such as improved network performance.

The sampling unit includes a shift register and a clock, and is configured to receive a laser signal at the input, collect a first sample of the received input laser signal at a first time interval, determine an amplitude of the first sample, assign a first symbol of a plurality of symbols to the determined amplitude, insert the first symbol at a first insertion point within the shift register, and generate a delay value at the output based on a position of the first insertion point with respect to the output.

摘要: The present invention relates in general to communication systems, and more specifically towards methods, systems, and devices that help improve transmission rates and spectral efficiency of intensity modulated (IM) or power modulated channels utilizing multi-level pulse amplitude modulation PAM-M. In an embodiment, the present invention used an iterative algorithm to open the eyes of an eye diagram in a relatively short number of steps. The algorithm, which may not require previous characterization of the channel, utilizes pseudo-random sequences, such as PSBS15 or PRQS10, and adaptive non-linear equalizers to optimize the pre-distortion taps.

摘要: A method for overlapping spectrum amplification includes receiving an optical signal and splitting the optical signal into a first split signal having a first wavelength band and a second split signal having a second wavelength band. The splitting results in a band gap between the first wavelength band and the second wavelength band. The method further includes delaying the first split signal by a threshold period of time relative to the second split signal and combining the first split signal and the second split signal, resulting in a combined signal having the first wavelength band and the second wavelength band without the band gap therebetween. The path difference between the first split signal along the first signal path and the second split signal along the second signal path is within a threshold multipath interference compensation range.

摘要: The present invention discloses a frequency domain equalization method, including transmitting an optical signal transmitted over a long distance to a dispersion compensation device, and performing dispersion compensation and equalization processing on the optical signal through the dispersion compensation device. The present invention utilizes the compensation effect of a single dispersion compensation device to realize dispersion compensation and frequency equalization on the optical signal, reducing the bandwidth requirements for the devices at the emitting and receiving ends, allows the directly modulated laser to still support long-distance fiber transmission in the case of high-speed signal modulation, and greatly reduces the system cost. In addition, transmissions over different distances can be supported by changing the value for the dispersion amount, so that the distance can be adjusted flexibly according to the requirements in the data center or other application scenarios.
