The keypad has a plurality of keys, a first subset of which are adapted to define a first arrangement of keys, and a second subset of which are adapted to define a second arrangement of keys. Further, the apparatus includes a light provision arrangement that has at least one light source. A controller coupled to, and adapted to control the operations of, the light provision arrangement, to highlight the first and second subsets of keys during a first and a second mode of operation respectively. The keypad has a first and a second different relative operational disposition to the display, in said first and second modes of operation respectively.

摘要： In an mobile electronic equipment in which an upper cabinet is openably and closably coupled with a lower cabinet, cutout portions from which a track ball is exposed are formed to the coupling portions of the upper and lower cabinets, and the track ball is interposed between a pair of hinge mechanisms for connecting both the cabinets to each other. With this arrangement, since the track ball is exposed in any of the opened state and the closed state of the mobile electronic equipment, a user can manipulate the track ball in any of the opened state and the closed state. Accordingly, there can be overcome the disadvantageous operability of a conventional folding type mobile electronic equipment, which has a track ball as a pointing device, in that a job for opening the equipment is required to manipulate the track ball.

An electronic display (6) is provided on a surface of the body portion (2), the display (6) being visible to a user when the lid (7) is in both the open and closed positions. Display control means is arranged to display information on the display (6) with a first orientation when the lid (7) is in the open position and with a second orientation, substantially at right angles to said first orientation, when the lid (7) is in the closed position.

The present invention is an information entry system comprising a touch panel monitor screen, wherein the touch panel monitor screen displays keys for information entry, which are arranged circularly in order and rotates around the center of the circular arrangement without changing the order when a user touches a predetermined option key. This system also have a central processing unit and a program storage unit including an Information entry Screen Generator, a Random Number Generator, a Key Moving Unit, and an PIN Information output unit. This information entry device prevents a PIN or any other information entry from being stolen by someone who glances at the finger movement, since the entire series of the entry keys are rotated before or after the PIN entry. The information entry system of the present invention can be adapted for an ATM or PDA terminal as well as for a touch panel screen monitor.

The operation button portion component is arranged by bending along inner sides of front and side surfaces of the lower case and elastic sheet. The operation button portion component is obtained by fixing the respective operation buttons on an elastic sheet with a predetermined design. The operation button illuminating light source is arranged on a circuit board frame to be incorporated in the portable telephone and illuminates the front surface and side surface operation buttons. A method of manufacturing the portable telephone is also disclosed.
