摘要: A cordless telephone system is arranged for extending the operating range of a cordless telephone portable unit within such system. The cordless telephone system comprises a plurality of cordless telephone stations that plug into any available wall telephone jack and may share the intrapremises telephone wire-pair with one or more existing corded telephone stations without interference. Each cordless telephone station consists of a cordless telephone base unit and its associated cordless telephone portable unit. Although each of the portable units is associated with a particular base unit, all of the portable units are able to operate with any of the base units in the system. As a user of a portable unit with a call in progress roams about a premises, all base units monitor the quality of the radio frequency signal received from the portable unit. If the signal quality of a base unit actively communicating with the portable unit deteriorates to below an acceptable level, control apparatus in the system identifies another base unit and executes a hand-off of the communication link with the portable unit to this base unit that is then receiving the signal from the handset unit with an acceptable signal quality. Operational control for the base units is provided through a time division multiple access arrangement wherein a communications channel is imposed on the existing premises telephone wire-pair above the audio frequency band used for standard telephone service.

摘要: In a cordless key telephone system for servicing separate service zones (3.sub.1, 3.sub.2), a cordless station (5) establishes a two-way radio channel with an access unit (4) of the service zone in which it is located, and constantly monitors the field intensity of the established channel and transmits a zone switching signal when the field intensity is below a specified level as an indication that the cordless station is leaving a first zone (3.sub.1) and entering a second zone (3.sub.2). A main controller (2) establishes a switched connection between exchange lines (6) and the access units (4). In response to the zone switching signal from a given cordless station via the access unit of the first zone, the main controller holds an exchange line (6.sub.i) that is connected to the access unit (4.sub.j) of the first zone through a first switched connection, and establishes a second switched connection between the exchange line (6.sub.i) and the access unit (4.sub.j) of the second zone, instead of the first switched connection. A vocal announcement is applied to the exchange line indicating to a communicating party that the cordless station is switching zones.

摘要: A method and arrangement of locating cordless units in a wide area cordless telephone system is disclosed. A service area is previously divided into a plurality of small service zones and, a plurality of cordless units are provided for establishing communications with a system controller via a plurality of access stations. The system controller locates the cordless units and stores therein location data thereof. Each of the cordless units also stores the location data thereof applied from the system controller. A cordless unit issues a request signal which includes cordless unit location data. The request signal is received at an access station which in turn checks to determine if the request signal applied thereto is issued from a cordless unit whose location data indicates a service zone belonging to a predetermined service zone group. In the event that the cordless unit location data applied to the access station is found to fall within the predetermined service zone group, the access station relays the request signal applied thereto, together with a signal level of the request signal, to the system controller.

摘要: A system for accessing a telephone system, in which a set of user stations are matched with a set of base stations for connection to a telephone network. Each base station may be coupled directly or indirectly to the telephone network and may be capable of initiating or receiving calls on the telephone network. Each user station may comprise a spread-spectrum transmitter or receiver and may be capable of dynamic connection to selected base stations A plurality of base stations may be coupled to a private exchange telephone system for coupling user stations in calls outside the telephone network. User stations may use CDMA, FDMA, TDMA or other multiple-access techniques to obtain one or more clear communication paths to base stations. Base stations may be placed at convenient locations or may themselves be mobile. User stations may make and break connections with base stations as the user station moves between service regions, or is otherwise more advantageously serviced by, base stations. User stations may direct requests to and receive information from an enhanced telephone services processor, so as to obtain enhanced telephone services within the telephone network. Base stations may be coupled to each other by means of a private exchange telephone system or other small business telephone system (such as a PBX, Centrex, or key-type system) so as to couple user stations in calls outside the telephone network. User stations may also be coupled directly or indirectly to the telephone network on their own or by another access path, such as narrowband or spread-spectrum cellular telephone circuits.

摘要: In a cordless key telephone system for covering multiple service areas, access units are divided into groups corresponding respectively to the service areas, the access units of each group being located in the corresponding service area for broadcasting a recurrent sequence of address signals on a two-way radio control channel and carrying speech signals on an assigned two-way telephone channel. The access units of each group has a uniquely assigned control channel different in frequency from the control channel of the other group. Cordless stations are switchable to the control channel of a first group of the access units for detecting an address signal and subsequently switchable to the control channel of the access units of a second group if the address signal is not detected in a first sequence for detecting the addressed signal in a second sequence. A main controller is coupled to a switched telephone network for causing the access units to broadcast the address signals in response to an incoming call from the network and for establishing a connection between the network and one of the cordless stations.

摘要: Cordless network terminating units (CNTn) with a remote power-feeding device are connected via U interfaces (U) to a radio communication network with digital local exchanges (DIV-O). The cordless network terminating unit (CNTn) is associated with mobile sections (MT1-MT80). The cordless network terminating units (CNTn) are connected via digital subscriber line modules (SLMD) and digital subscriber line units (DLU) via a packet switching network (Datex-P) to the data processing system (SP) of a service provider. When a connection is being set up, the authorization of the subscriber is directly checked with a database as "authentication" by the service provider. The data transmission occurs via a composite p channel of the ISDN network. This makes it possible to implement party lines and operate different service networks.

摘要: The telephone system of the present invention is realized by a unique dynamic time slice architecture which allows for up to 480 transfers of data. A dual port RAM is utilized in which are stored two pages of data, containing time slice information identifying the sending and receiving devices for each time slice slot within the frame. The time slice configuration can be easily modified to accommodate a change in the current system configuration, for example, a handset connecting or disconnecting from a central office line, or the initiation of a conference call. The time slice configuration is modified by updating the second page and swapping the two pages at the beginning of the next frame so that the time slice controller accesses the second page and the configurations specified therein. Thus the system can be updated and controlled in real time with no delays to the users of the telephone system. The telephone system of the present invention further provides a dynamic conferencing capability which can accommodate a large number of users with no additional circuitry and little additional system overhead. The conferencing circuit linearly combines digitized audio data received from different sources over successive time slice slots in a single frame on a real time basis wherein parties can be added or removed simply by adding or removing the connections to the time slice slots.

摘要: In a wide area cordless telephone system, an individual-call signal is generated if an incoming call from the telephone network is an individual call to one of cordless stations of a group and a group-call signal is generated if it is directed to all cordless stations of the group. A group of access units are associated with the cordless station of each group to establish a control channel and speech channels with the cordless stations. The access units respond to the individual-call signal by transmitting a speech channel identifier to one of the cordless stations through the control channel and transmitting a ringing signal through a speech channel specified by the speech-channel identifier. In response to the group-call signal, speech-channel identifiers are successively transmitted from the access units to the cordless stations through the control channel and group ringing signals are respectively sent to the cordless stations through speech channels specified by the speech-channel identifiers. In a modified embodiment, the cordless stations receive pairing identifiers each containing a pair of an access unit identifier and a cordless station identifier and transmit a response containing one pairing identifier that specifies the own station. The access units also receive pairing identifiers from the controller for detecting a match with those received from the cordless stations. If a match is detected by each access unit, it is entitled to send a speech-channel identifier to the cordless station which is specified by the matched identifiers.
