摘要： Apparatus for machining an extremely large and very heavy workpiece, such as a runner of a hydro-turbine machine, in situs. The hub of the hydro-turbine runner is utilized as a support for a rotatable beam which is arranged to carry a depending grinding or cutting tool in position to machine the wear ring surface of the turbine. Positioning of the grinding tool both in a vertical direction and a radial direction is effected to control the grinding operation. The power drive grinding tool is bodily rotated around the wear right by rotating the entire supporting beam around an axis which is concentric with the axis of the runner.

摘要： A device for attaching on a spectacle lens a block for mounting on a lens edging or bevelling machine comprises fixed mounting block holding means, lens holding means located substantially in one plane and movable between a rest or centering position, in which the lens to be blocked is at a distance from the mounting block and a blocking position for securing the mounting block on the lens. This device further comprises centering marks located substantially in the plane formed by the lens holding means when no lens is placed on said holding means. The centering marks are movable in a direction substantially perpendicular to said plane in such a way that they are always in contact with the surface of a lens placed on its holding means, said surface being the surface adapted to receive subsequently the mounting block.

摘要： This invention relates to an improved three-point support subassembly for pivoted machine tool turntables that is characterized by a pair of floating pads retained in cavities on the underside of the turntable that slide along the opposed planar surface of a stationary bedplate therebeneath and a ball and socket pivotal connection that allows the turntable to swing on a vertical axis defined by the latter as well as tilt relative thereto. The stem portion of the pin is journalled for rotation about a vertical axis in the bedplate while the spherical portion atop said stem is connected to the turntable for conjoint movement in a horizontal plane due to a loose fitting coupling therebetween. The socket journalling the spherical portion of the pivot pin includes upper and lower segments independently adjustable relative to one another and to the turntable for purposes of leveling the latter. Adjustable abutments also engage the pads and are used to raise or lower the turntable relative thereto.

The polishing head is moved horizontally in a lowered position to engage a workpiece and polish edges of an aperture where it intersects with a nonplanar surface of the workpiece. In a raised position, the polishing head is engaged by a release mechanism releasing the abrasive member which is fed a predetermined distance outwardly of the polishing head and is engaged by a unit dressing and shaping the abrasive as required for subsequent polishing operations.

摘要： An apparatus for cleaning deposited materials from the interiors of gooseneck elbows of ascension pipes of a coke oven battery having a cutter head or abrading tool on a ram pivotally mounted within a cradle which is flexibly supported on a coal charging larry car by means of a suspension system which permits the ram to move freely in the lateral and vertical planes while remaining parallel to its original orientation. The ram is automatically aligned with the axis of the ascension pipe elbow by a male to female indexing device, the matching pieces of which are mounted separately on the outside of each gas ascension pipe and at the end of the supporting frame. In one embodiment, the cleaning tool is caused to dodge under the upper lip of the gooseneck opening in the ascension pipe by means of two linkages which are mounted at one of their ends to opposite sides and at opposite ends of the ram and at the other of their ends to the cradle and which traverse opposing curved paths while advancing the ram into the interior of the elbow. In another embodiment, this is accomplished by means of the cleaner ram rolling on curved tracks.

摘要： In a blade cutting edge sharpening apparatus, pivotal arms carrying an upper and a lower grinding wheel are mounted on a carriage which is horizontally displaceable in respect of the blade and perpendicularly to the cutting edge. Two horizontal pivots extending parallel to the cutting edge support the two arms on the carriage for pivoting in vertical planes about the pivots. The diameters and positions of the grinding wheels form predetermined angles on opposed surfaces of the cutting edge, and the upper arm is adjustable in a horizontal direction relative to the carriage and perpendicularly to the cutting edge for varying the angle of the upper surface of the cutting edge relative to the angle of the lower cutting edge surface.
