摘要:
A method for preventive maintenance of a boat hull to restore the integrity of a fiberglass boat hull and prevent new water infiltration damage to a boat hull. The wet area repair guidelines using a surface moisture meter. Any balsa cored area reading 15% or above is considered a wet area. Any wood cored area reading 20% or above is considered a wet area. The preventive maintenance steps involve removing all through-hull fittings or hardware. Wet core areas are then dried out using heat lamps, lights or heaters, hot-vac systems, or octopus vacuum with grid system. If necessary, any area not drying out is de-cored and repaired accordingly. After repairs are finished, all through-hull fillings or hardware is reinstalled using new sealant.

A launcher for torpedoes and underwater vehicles includes an inlet recess in fluid communication with a shutterway recess. A primary shutterway is provided both for ejection of the vehicle and for supplying fluid intake to the launcher. A pump circulates fluid from the inlet recess to the shutterway recess, and a launch tube houses a vehicle such as a weapon, within the launcher prior to launch thereof. A slide valve and impulse tank combination are positioned intermediate the pump and the launch tube, such that the slide valve controls a flow of fluid to the launch tube. A guide can is positioned at the shutterway recess for guiding the vehicle from the launch tube to an exterior of the launcher and fluid within the launcher is continually moderated to enable selective launch of the vehicle with a fluid force.

An apparatus provides a swivelless connection of first and second fixed positions on respective first and second structures. The structures are relatively rotatable about a common axis, through a length of flexible conduit defined by first and second space portions thereof respectively connected to the first and second fixed positions and predetermined in accordance with the extent of relative rotation to be accommodated while continuously maintaining the connection.

A method for the manufacture of a deck of adjacently located strips for series-produced decked boats, including the steps of arranging a number of strip members in a parallel relationship, separated from each other by means of intermediately located spacing members, thus giving the strip members a longitudinally extending curved configuration mainly corresponding to the deck line of the boat to which the deck is intended to be attached, thereafter applying a supporting and joining member against the free edge portions of the strip members, and by means of an adhesive, vulcanization, or similar previously known method producing a joint between the strip members and the supporting and joining member, whereafter the spacing members located between the strip shaped members are removed. As a further step, the strip members are arranged with a height corresponding to at least twice the intended height, and a second joining and supporting member is attached against the strip members in an opposed relationship to the first member, whereafter the strip members are divided along a central longitudinally extending line, thereby forming two mirror image deck halves.

A vehicle, usable in water, air, space or on land, having substantially rigid interior structure and exterior, stiffly resilient shock-taking outer-wall structure that is capable of sustaining minor shocks of normal travel without flexing and of yielding under major shocks and then returning to its former shape. The shock-taking structure comprises elongated, inflated tubular members having flat ends and between these ends a plurality of inflated links comprising dense, flexible material capable of flexing a multiplicity of times without fracture. Preferably this material comprises resilient or ductile metal preferably an envelope of fabric, lined with thin lead. The tubular-member links are integrally connected by joints which may be flat and optionally sealed, but preferably are only partly flattened toward the interior structure. The vehicle may be a boat, having: floats that comprise some of the tubular-member links; upper, boat-stabilizing balloons; and an air propeller or propellers. The rigid interior structure may be substantially rectangular or arcuate in cross section, stave-like panels.

A BOAT WHICH HAS A DECK SITUATED BETWEEN A PAIR OF SIDES OF THE HULL, THESE SIDES EXTENDING DOWNWARDLY BELOW THE DECK WHERE THE SIDES RESPECTIVELY HAVE BOTTOM EDGES. THE HULL INCLUDES A BOTTOM WALL CONNECTED TO THESE BOTTOM EDGES TO BE CARRIED BY THE SIDES OF THE HULL, AND THIS BOTTOM WALL OF THE HULL IS ADJUSTABLE SO THAT IT CAN ASSUME A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS. THESE CONFIGURATIONS CAN INCLUDE A RANGE FROM A SUBSTANTIALLY FLAT CONFIGURATION TO A V-SHAPED CONFIGURATION. AN ADJUSTING STRUCTURE IS CONNECTED TO THE BOTTOM WALL TO ADJUST THE LATTER SO THAT IT
WILL ASSUME A CONFIGURATION DETERMINED BY THE ADJUSTING STRUCTURE, AND A STRUCTURE WHICH RESPONDS TO THE CONDITION OF THE WATER IN WHICH THE BOAT IS SITUATED IS CAPABLE TO AUTOMATICALLY ACTUATING THE ADJUSTING STRUCTURE TO ACT THROUGH THE LATTER ON THE BOTTOM WALL TO PROVBIDE IT AUTOMATICALLY WITH A CONFIGURATION WHICH IS ADAPTED TO THE PARTICULAR CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH THE BOAT IS OPERATED.
