    摘要： A thread brake for a double-thread twister comprises a housing defining a relatively narrow thread passage and having a relatively wide compartment defined by at least one of the housing walls. A braking element provided in the compartment normally lies in a braking portion against the wall at the passage and is displaceable laterally of the passage into a position clear of this passage. Thus a thread extending along the passage is normally pinched by the braking element against the wall. A threading element is also provided in the housing and has an elongated relatively narrow open course. This threading element is displaceable between a position with the course out of alignment with the thread passage in the compartment and into a threading position with the course aligned with the passage in the compartment. Operating means connected to an inlet tube forming part of the passage is displaceable for shifting the threading element from outside the housing into the threading position and for simultaneously displacing the braking element out of the braking position. Two such braking arrangements can be provided in the housing.

    摘要： An apparatus for spinning a filament includes a vertical spindle carrying a bobbin of filament to be spun and having a balloonlimiting bell surrounding the bobbin and formed with an upwardly open mouth. The spindle carries at its upper end an upwardly tapered guide pin which projects through the bell mouth and around which the filament is wound several times. The filament is pulled tangentially off this guide pin at an acute angle to the spindle axis as the bell, spindle, and guide pin are rotated about this axis. A tensioning rod may be provided between the pin and the driven takeup spool. This rod is displaceable and may be resiliently biased parallel to the spindle axis. No other filament guide is provided on the bell.

    摘要： A yarn-twisting apparatus for formation of multiple-ply thread has a nonrotatable spindle carrying at least one spool from which two strands are drawn. The strands or threads pass down through the hollow interior of the spindle and out a radial opening in a rotating storage disk, thence up around the spool or spools to a bobbin. A first brake comprising a ball received in a conical or funnel-shaped seat is provided in the top or inlet end of the spindle and a second brake in the form of a compressible body with semispherical ends received between two conical seats is provided in the lower or yarn-outlet region of the spindle. The upper seat of the lower brake is formed on the end of a hollow element threaded into the spindle and provided with a scale so that the axial position of its seat can be read off and set according to how much tension is to be imparted to the threads by the second brake.

    摘要： A yarn brake comprises at least one compartment, the bottom wall of which rises towards the center conically, and a small round plate in the compartment capable of resting on the bottom wall. The conduit for the yarn is in the middle of the bottom wall. The diameter of the plate is greater than the height of the compartment and is such, with respect to the width of the brake, that, when the plate rests on the bottom wall, the conduit for the yarn is covered. Preferably more than one compartment is present, and the brake is provided with a tube in the middle, the level of which is adjustable, so that the number of compartments which enter into operation, is controllable.
