    摘要: Disclosed is a liquid developer comprising a colorant and a substantial amount of a curable liquid vehicle having a viscosity of no more than about 500 centipoise and a resistivity of no less than about 10.sup.8 ohm-cm. One embodiment of the invention is directed to an electrophoretic liquid developer comprising a substantial amount of a curable liquid vehicle having a viscosity of no more than about 20 centipoise and a resistivity of no less than about 5.times.10.sup.9 ohm-cm, a charge control agent, and colored particles capable of becoming charged and migrating through the liquid vehicle to develop an electrostatic latent image. Another embodiment of the invention is directed to a polarizable liquid developer comprising a colorant and a substantial amount of a curable liquid vehicle having a viscosity of from about 25 to about 500 centipoise and a resistivity of from about 10.sup.8 to about 10.sup.11 ohm-cm. Yet another embodiment of the invention is directed to a photoelectrophoretic liquid developer comprising a substantial amount of a curable liquid vehicle having a viscosity of no more than about 20 centipoise and a resistivity of no less than about 5.times.10.sup.9 ohm-cm and photosensitive colored particles. A specific embodiment of the invention is directed to a liquid developer comprising a colorant, a substantial amount of a curable liquid vehicle having a viscosity of no more than about 500 centipoise and a resistivity of no less than about 10.sup.8 ohm-cm, and solid particles containing an initiator substantially insoluble in the liquid vehicle and capable, upon activation, of initiating polymerization of the curable liquid vehicle. In one embodiment, the colorant comprises pigment particles and the initiator is contained on the surfaces of the pigment particles. In another embodiment, the developer contains polymeric particles and the initiator is contained on the surfaces of the polymeric particles. In yet another embodiment, the colorant comprises toner particles which comprise a pigment and a polymer, and the initiator is contained on the surfaces of the toner particles. In still another embodiment, the initiator is contained on the surfaces of solid particles such as silicas, clays, or the like. The initiator can also be contained within the solid particles.

    摘要: A liquid developer for use in electrostatic photography comprises toner particles, each containing a resin and a colorant dispersed in a carrier liquid. The carrier liquid comprises at least one ether compound derived from ethylene glycol or propylene group and represented by the following general formulaR.sub.1 --O(C.sub.n H.sub.2n O).sub.x R.sub.2wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be the same or different and represent an alkyl group or an aryl group, n is an integer of 2 or 3, and x is an integer of 1 to 3. The ether compound is present in the carrier liquid in the range of from 5 to 100 wt %.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method for making an electrophotographic printing plate by reversal development which comprises uniformly charging the surface of an organic photoreceptor comprising an electrically conductive support and, provided thereon, an organic photoconductive compound bound with a resin binder, exposing the surface to a light image to form a static latent image corresponding to the light image on the surface of the organic photoreceptor and then, subjecting the static latent image to reversal development with an electrophotographic liquid developer containing charged toner particles, characterized in that the reversal development is carried out with the electrophotographic liquid developer having an electrodeposition potential set within the range of 0-80 V in absolute value.

    摘要: A high solids replenishable electrostatic liquid developer concentrate includes toner particles containing a carboxyl terminated polyester resin and a pigment and a liquid toner dispensant. The solids content of the concentrate is above about 50%. A method for producing the concentrate includes the steps of blending particles containing a carboxyl terminated polyester and a pigment with a liquid toner dispersants to form a toner dispersant mixture and to increase the solids content of the toner dispersant mixture to more than about 90% solids. Toner solids in a liquid electrostatic developer are replenished by adding the toner particles to a toner solids depleted liquid electrostatic developer in a liquid electrostatographic printing machine.
