    Abstract: An elevator system includes a hoistway (217) including a landing (225A-225C), which includes a landing door (227A-227C), an elevator car (203), comprising an elevator car door (229), arranged to move within the hoistway (217), a first safety switch (231; 233) configured to indicate a potential hazard in the elevator system (201) and a controller (215). The controller (215) is configured, when the first safety switch (231; 233) is triggered, to stop movement of the elevator car (203) and determine whether the elevator car (203) is located anywhere within an unlocking zone (253) in the hoistway. The controller is further configured, if it is determined that the elevator car (203) is located anywhere in the unlocking zone (253), to allow the elevator car door (229) and landing door (227A-227C) to be opened.

    Abstract: An illustrative example embodiment of an elevator sheave liner includes a liner body having an inner surface configured to be received against a sheave and an outer surface configured to engage an elevator tension member. The liner body comprises a polymer material and a plurality of wear resistance particles in the composite material. The wear resistance particles are nanoparticles or microparticles. At least some of the wear resistance particles establish a traction characteristic of the outer surface of the sheave liner.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a cleaning head for cleaning a plurality of hoisting belts and/or at least one sheave of an elevator system is provided. The at least one sheave includes a plurality of grooves for receiving each of the hoisting belts. The cleaning head comprises a base plate and a plurality of wipers fixed to an upper end of the base plate to project outwards from the base plate. The cleaning head may be used to clean the plurality of hoisting belts at once and/or the plurality of grooves of the at least one sheave at once.

    Abstract: During a maintenance inspection, an optical rope diameter measuring device is provided at a predetermined position along a path of a wire rope, rope diameter is measured at multiple measuring points while the elevator is driven in test mode, and diameter reduction at each measuring point is determined and stored as a first diameter reduction (S2_S6). During a subsequent maintenance inspection, rope diameter is similarly measured at each measuring point to determine diameter reduction constituting a second diameter reduction (S7_S11). Based on these two diameter reductions, the time at which diameter reduction will reach a predetermined threshold value is predicted for each measuring point, and the earliest time is displayed as a rope replacement time (S12_S14).

A working platform (12) is suspendably connected to the support frame and moveable between a stowed position, above the interior space, and an operational position, suspended within the interior space. The working platform (12) comprises at least one stabilizing member (14) and the at least one stabilizing member (14) comprises a first engagement portion (22). At least one side wall (4a) comprises a second engagement portion (6) such as a handrail. When the working platform (12) is in the operational position, the first engagement portion (22) is configured to engage with the second engagement portion (6) so as to stabilize the working platform (12) in the operational position.
