Abstract: A dressing for treating a tissue site, particularly an abdominal or peritoneal site, is disclosed. In some embodiments, the dressing may comprise a tissue interface formed from a first layer of a liquid-impermeable material and a plurality of manifolding bubbles formed as part of the first layer. In some embodiments, the tissue interface may further comprise a second layer of a permeable material, where the manifolding bubbles are formed as closed cells between the first layer and the second layer. The tissue interface may also include a third layer of liquid-impermeable material positioned adjacent to the second layer, where one or more fluid passageways may be formed between the second layer and third layer for delivering a therapeutic fluid to the tissue site.

Abstract: Disclosed are photo-responsive pressure sensitive adhesives, wound dressings that contain the photo-responsive pressure sensitive adhesives, and methods to remove the wound dressing. The photo-responsive pressure sensitive adhesive comprises a viscoelastic polymeric matrix. The viscoelastic polymeric matrix comprises a polymer that includes at least a first polymeric segment and at least a second polymeric segment that are each covalently linked together through a photo-cleavable moiety. The photo-cleavable moiety is capable of photolytic cleavage of the covalent bonds formed between the moiety and the first and/or second polymeric segments, respectively, in response to electromagnetic radiation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for disrupting material at a tissue site is described. A contact layer may be selected for use on the tissue site and positioned adjacent to the tissue site. The contact layer may include walls defining a plurality of through-holes. A sealing member may be positioned over the contact layer and sealed to tissue surrounding the tissue site to form a sealed space enclosing the contact layer. A negative-pressure source may be fluidly coupled to the sealed space. The negative-pressure source may supply negative pressure to the sealed space and the contact layer to draw tissue into the through-holes to form nodules. The negative pressure may be vented from the sealed space to release the nodules.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for closing an opening through a surface of a tissue site are described. The system includes a sealing member adapted to cover the opening to form a sealed space and a negative-pressure source adapted to be fluidly coupled to the sealed space to provide negative pressure to the sealed space. The system also includes a contracting layer adapted to be positioned adjacent the opening and formed from a material having a firmness factor and a plurality of holes extending through the contracting layer to form a void space. The holes have a perforation shape factor and a strut angle causing the plurality of holes to collapse in a direction substantially perpendicular to the opening. The contracting layer generates a closing force substantially parallel to the surface of the tissue site to close the opening in response to application of the negative pressure.

Abstract: Methods of debriding a wound include applying a wound debridement material in frictional contact across at least a portion of a wound surface of a patient and removing tissue from the wound surface via adherence of the tissue to the wound debridement material without leaving solid debris of the wound debridement material on the wound surface after the application of the wound debridement material. A wound debridement material comprising a solid porous foam soaked by a fluid suitable for use in such methods is also provided.

Abstract: Systems and methods for a reduced-pressure interface for providing reduced pressure through a sealing member to a distribution manifold includes a housing having a flange portion and a cavity wall portion such that the cavity wall portion forms a cavity having a tissue-facing cavity opening. A conduit port is coupled to the cavity wall and has a conduit aperture, such that the conduit port is adapted to receive a reduced-pressure delivery conduit. An attachment device is coupled to a tissue-facing side of the flange portion of the housing such that the attachment device couples the housing to the sealing member. Additionally, a cutting element is at least temporarily coupled to the housing proximate to the tissue-facing cavity opening such that the cutting element is adapted to form an aperture in the sealing member when the cutting element is driven into the sealing member with a driving force.

Abstract: Dressings for tissue treatment, which may comprise a first layer and a second layer. The first layer may comprise or consist essentially of a first plurality of perforations formed through the first layer and arranged in a first pattern of rows. Each of the first plurality of perforations may be parallel to a first direction. The first layer may comprise or consist essentially of a second plurality of perforations formed through the second layer and arranged in a second pattern of rows. Each of the second plurality of perforations may be parallel to a second direction. The first plurality of perforations and the second plurality of perforations may be configured to open in response to a pressure gradient across the first layer. A second layer may comprise or consist essentially of a manifold, and coupled to the first layer.
