摘要: An apparatus for manufacturing pipes using thermoplastic pipe and “tape” (continuous fiber, fully wetted in a similar thermoplastic as the pipe) that embeds its fibers into pipe surface. The thermoplastic pipe is mechanically compressed prior fiber tape being applied. Outer diameter reduction of the pipe is at least partly maintained by the fiber tape being tightly wrapped around the pipe immediately after compression causes the pipe to contract. Then, an external heat source is applied to the pipe causing the thermoplastic to melt and the pipe to undergo thermal expansion. Fibers stretch less and are embedded into the molten layer of the pipe, creating a permanent bond between the fibers and the pipe. Individual pipes may be joined using couplers or butt welds.

摘要: A method for producing a seed powder-polycarboxylic acid monoester wood adhesive using a bio-based feedstock includes: generating a functionalized powder feedstock by moderate degradation of the powder feedstock with appropriate water content in the existence of a multifunctional catalyst and simultaneous esterification with a cyclic anhydride to introduce a curable functional group; and mixing the separated functionalized powder with water and adding a curing additive to form a thermo-curable wood adhesive. Double-layer plywood samples were prepared according to ASTM International Standard 2017, D2339-98 and solidified for 3-10 min under 3 MPa pressure in a hot press at temperatures between 150-200° C. The double-layer plywood samples showed dry and wet strengths of up to 3.5 MPa and a wood failure rate of more than 80%.

摘要: Hybrid proteins are described that include an amino acid sequence with at least two zipper-forming protein sequences and at least one flexible sequence from a spider silk protein sequence, in which each of the at least one flexible sequences is positioned between each pair of the at least two zipper-forming protein sequences to form a repeated sequence. The amino acid sequence also includes at least one mussel foot protein sequence positioned at a C-terminus or an N-terminus of the alternating repeated sequence. Also described are adhesive hydrogels and methods of forming the adhesive hydrogels using the hybrid proteins described herein.

摘要: A method of forming a display article includes dispensing a material onto a first substrate, and pre-curing the material to form a dam. The method includes depositing a liquid optically clear adhesive in a first pattern onto the first substrate such that the first pattern is spaced apart from the dam to form a coated first substrate. The method includes depositing the adhesive in a second pattern onto a second substrate to form a coated second substrate, and flipping the coated second substrate upside down. The method includes translating the coated first and second substrates towards one another to eliminate an air gap, contacting the first pattern and the second pattern at a plurality of single points, and compressing the first pattern and the second pattern to eliminate the air gap and air entrained between the coated first and second substrates.

摘要: Disclosed is an adhesive formulation that, when stimulated by a defeatable stimulation, reduces an adhesive bonding force of the adhesive formulation and defeats the adhesive formulation. The adhesive formulation having (i) programmable linkages made from Diels-Alder adducts and (ii) a concentration of diene traps. The Diels-Alder adducts may be furan-maleimide, and the diene traps may be (i) latent alkenes and (ii) selected from functional groups that will create irreversible reations with furan. The adhesive formulation may be capable of being applied as a coating, and the adhesive formulation may be capable of being extruded. The adhesive formulation may have a bonding temperature between 75 and 120° C. And the defeatable stimulation could, for example, be a temperature above 130° C. The adhesive formulation also may contain several types of programmable linkages and diene traps.
