    摘要: A process is disclosed for ascertaining electrical discharge properties of an electrophotographic imaging member including the steps of (a) providing at least one electrophotographic imaging member comprising an electrically conductive layer and at least one photoconductive layer, (b) contacting the surface of the electrophotographic imaging member with a substantially transparent electrode and applying an electric potential or an electric current to form an electric field across the photoconductive layer, (c) terminating the applying of the electric potential or the electric current, (d) exposing the photoconductive layer to activating radiation to discharge the electrophotographic imaging member, (e) repeating steps (b), (c) and (d), and (f) measuring the potential across the photoconductive layer during steps (b), (c) and (d) as a function of time by means of an electrostatic meter coupled to the electrode. Also, disclosed is apparatus for ascertaining electrical discharge properties of an electrophotographic imaging member including (a) means to support an electrophotographic imaging member comprising an electrically conductive layer and at least one photoconductive layer, (b) means for applying an electric potential or electric current to a substantially transparent electrode on the electrophotographic imaging member to form an electric field across the photoconductive layer, (c) means for terminating the applying of the electric potential or the electric current, (d) an electrostatic voltmeter probe coupled to the means for applying an electric current to the electrode, (e) means for exposing the photoconductive layer through the substantially transparent electrode to activating radiation to discharge the electrophotographic imaging member to a predetermined level, and (f) means for exposing the photoconductive layer to activating radiation to fully discharge the electrophotographic imaging member.

    摘要: This invention is generally directed to an organic layered photoresponsive device containing a charge transport layer comprised of a composition of the following: ##STR1## dispersed in a highly insulating and transparent organic resinous material, wherein x is selected from the group consisting of ortho (CH.sub.3), meta (CH.sub.3), para (CH.sub.3), ortho (Cl), meta (Cl), and para (Cl), and dispersed in said transport layer from about 0.1 weight percent to about 10 weight percent of an additive composition selected from the group consisting of ##STR2## wherein R and R.sub.1 are independently selected from the group consisting of ethylene groups containing from about 1 to about 6 carbon atoms such as methylene, ethylene, propylene, butylene and the like, and n is 0 or 1; ##STR3## wherein R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are independently selected from alkyl groups containing from about 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, and R.sub.4 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups containing from about 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, CH.sub.2 OH, (CH.sub.3).sub.2 OH, and ##STR4## wherein R.sub.2 is an alkyl group; ##STR5## wherein R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 are alkyl groups; and ##STR6## wherein R.sub.8, R.sub.9, R.sub.10, and R.sub.11 are alkyl groups.

    摘要: An imaging member comprising a hole generation layer and a contiguous hole transport layer, said hole transport layer comprising a transparent electrically inactive polycarbonate resinous material having a residual amount of a halogen containing organic solvent therein and dispersed therein from about 25 to about 75 percent by weight based on said transport layer composition of a diamine, said charge transport layer being substantially nonabsorbing in the spectral region at which the hole generation layer generates and injects photogenerated holes, but being capable of supporting the injection of photogenerated holes from said photoconductive material and transporting said hole through said charge transport layer, said charge transport layer also containing a stabilizing proportion of a di or triaryl methane compound of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of a C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, aryl, alkaryl and aralkyl, where said aryl is a phenyl group or a condensed ring group, where the alkyl group of said alkaryl and aralkyl is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 group, R.sub.3 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and CH.sub.3 ; and R.sub.4 is the same as R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 or a disubstituted aminophenyl group wherein the substituents are independently selected from the group consisting of a C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, aryl, alkaryl and aralkyl as defined supra.

    摘要: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided in a liquid electrophotographic reproduction machine, a development unit for developing latent images on an image bearing member using liquid developer material. The development unit includes a housing defining a liquid developer material holding chamber, and a quantity of liquid developer material contained within the chamber. The quantity of developer material includes carrier liquid and charged toner particles dispersed within the quantity of carrier liquid. The development unit also includes a heating element located inside the quantity of developer material for heating the quantity of developer material. The quantity of developer material when heated has a desired elevated temperature within a range of 50 to 60 degrees centigrade for improved developability without causing toner particle agglomeration.
