    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may configure a system bandwidth of shared spectrum partitioned into a plurality of bandwidth parts based on interference associated with each of the plurality of bandwidth parts. The base station may then transmit the configuration of the system bandwidth to a plurality of devices. A UE may receive, from a base station, a configuration of a system bandwidth of shared spectrum. The system bandwidth may be partitioned into a plurality of bandwidth parts based on interference associated with each of the plurality of bandwidth parts. The UE may then communicate with the base station on at least one of the bandwidth parts.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for partitioning two or more dimensions of an uplink transmission, where different partitions in each partitioned dimension can be used to provide different feedback information. A UE may measure one or more downlink transmissions from a base station (e.g., beam measurements in a beam sweep procedure), and select a partition of one of the partitioned dimensions to indicate feedback related to the measured downlink transmissions. The feedback may indicate, for example, a particular beam that may be used for an active beam pair, beam refinement information, or other feedback. The partitioned dimensions may include one or more of time resource, a frequency resource dimension, a root sequence dimension, a cyclic shift dimension, a time-frequency dimension, or any combination thereof.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may support communications between a base station and a user equipment (UE) on multiple carriers. A UE may maintain a connection with a base station on a first carrier (e.g., an anchor carrier), and the UE may use a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle on a second carrier. The DRX cycle may include scheduled on-durations during which the UE may monitor the second carrier for signaling from the base station. To reduce the power consumption at the UE associated with repeatedly monitoring scheduled on-durations, the base station may transmit wake-up signaling to the UE on the first carrier to identify the on-durations that include data from the base station. Accordingly, the UE may monitor these on-durations for the data and avoid monitoring other on-durations to limit power consumption.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for transmitting a first signal corresponding to a symbol so as to cover a geographic sector with via analog beamforming, transmitting, using analog beamforming and a second port, a second signal corresponding to the symbol, wherein aspects of the symbol are phase modulated with respect to the first signal such that corresponding aspects of a combined signal are beam-formed in one or more directions that at least partially overlap the geographic sector, a receiver receives the combined signal and from it determines a preferred refined beam for subsequent transmissions and transmits an indicator that includes the preferred refined beam, and the transmitter receives an indication from a receiver identifying one or more aspects of the combined signal, and determining a refined beam for subsequent transmissions based at least in part on the indication.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive data transmissions on primary cell and transmit feedback for the data transmissions on a secondary cell, where carriers on the secondary cell have a subcarrier spacing that is greater than the subcarrier spacing of carriers on the primary cell. The UE may perform a self-contained transmission by receiving data and transmitting feedback within a single transmission opportunity. The base station may schedule the UE for only downlink transmissions in the primary cell, removing uplink transmission resources and guard periods from slots of primary cell carriers. The UE may transmit other information on the high band cell as well, such as a channel quality indicator or scheduling requests. The base station may apply rate adjustments for downlink transmission in the next slot of a primary cell carrier.
