Abstract: A method for transmitting data by a communications device in a wireless telecommunications network comprising a base station and a non-terrestrial network part, the method comprising determining that data is to be transmitted by the communications device to the base station via the non-terrestrial part, in response to the determining, selecting a random access preamble from a group of random access preambles, each of the random access preambles of the group being associated with one or more resource pools of communications resources for transmitting data, and transmitting the selected random access preamble.

Abstract: A method for controlling a connection procedure for a terminal device requesting a radio connection to a cell supported by network infrastructure equipment in a wireless telecommunication system, the method comprising: determining, at the terminal device, that a request to connect to the cell supported by the network infrastructure equipment is to be made, establishing, at the terminal device, application information relating to an operating context for the terminal device: transmitting a connection request message from the terminal device to the network infrastructure equipment, wherein the connection request message comprises a request for the terminal device to connect to the cell and an indication of the application information; and determining, at the network infrastructure equipment, whether to allow the request for the terminal device to connect to the cell based, at least in part, on the application information received by the network infrastructure equipment from the terminal device.

Abstract: An infrastructure equipment for providing a wireless backhaul for another infrastructure equipment in a wireless communications network comprises a receiver configured to receive, from the other infrastructure equipment acting as a relay, uplink data transmitted by a communications device, a transmitter configured to transmit to the infrastructure equipment acting as a node via the wireless access interface, and a controller. Abstract: A terminal device configured to receive a radio signal from which measurements can be used to assist in determining a position of the terminal device. The terminal device detects one or more system information blocks carrying position assistance information transmitted from the infrastructure equipment and estimates the position of the terminal device by combining the identified position assistance information with the radio signal received by the position detection receiver circuitry. Furthermore the terminal device receives from the infrastructure equipment an indication of relative risk that the position assistance information will change, and in response to the indication of the relative risk that the position assistance information will change to adapt the receiving of the one or more system information blocks to receive an updated version of the position assistance information in accordance with the relative risk.

Abstract: A method for use in a mobile telecommunications network that includes a core network, a base station providing wireless connectivity within a base station cell, a mobile node in the base station cell providing wireless connectivity within a local cell and configured to communicate wirelessly with the base station, and a terminal configured to communicate wirelessly with the base station and configured to communicate wirelessly with the mobile node; comprises defining a virtual cell tracking area that encompasses the local cell and has a unique virtual cell tracking area identifier; notifying the core network of an association of the terminal with the mobile node and the base station; sending a paging message for the terminal from the core network to the base station using the association to direct the paging message to the base station, the paging message including the virtual cell tracking area identifier; and forwarding the paging message from the base station to the terminal using the virtual cell tracking area identifier.
