A mechanism is disclosed for assigning repeaters to signal paths in an integrated circuit design. The mechanism involves reserving, in a first metal layer of the integrated circuit design, metal tracks for routing signals. Access points to a plurality of repeaters are reserved in a second metal layer of the integrated circuit design. Each access point is associated with a particular repeater. The design may have other layers between the second metal layer and a region reserved for the repeaters. The number of repeaters may be based on the number of metal tracks that are available to route signals through the first region. Signal paths are assigned routes that comprise at least a portion of one or more of the metal tracks. A route from signal paths requiring a repeater to access points to a particular repeater is determined. Thus, the signal paths are assigned to a repeater.

A method and apparatus for ontology-based classification of media content are provided. With the method and apparatus, initial confidence values of classifiers in a hierarchical classification structure are modified based on relationships between classifiers. A confidence value for a classifier is boosted by a boosting factor based on a correspondence between the confidence value and confidence values of ancestor classifiers in the hierarchical classification structure. A confidence value for a classifier is modified by a confusion factor based on a correspondence between the confidence value of the classifier and the confidence values of mutually exclusive classifiers in the hierarchical classification structure. In this way, a more accurate representation of the actual confidence that media content falls within the classification associated with the classifier is obtained. From this improved classification mechanism, indices for media content may be generated for use in accessing the media content at a later time.

A dual-cell gap transflective LCD device comprises an upper substrate and a lower substrate, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the upper and lower substrates, a transmissive region and a reflective region, a first retardation plate disposed on the upper substrate, and a second retardation plate disposed on the lower substrate. The dual-cell gap transflective LCD device only utilizes two retardation plates, i.e. the first and second retardation plates, to compensate the phase difference of the light caused by the birefringence of the liquid crystal whereby obtaining a high contrast display in both the transmissive region and the reflective region.
Abstract:
A method and system for the megasonic cleaning of one or more substrates that reduces damage to the substrate(s) resulting from the megasonic energy. The substrates are supported in a process chamber and contacted with a cleaning solution comprising a cleaning liquid having carbon dioxide gas dissolved in the cleaning liquid in such amounts that the carbon dioxide gas is at a supersaturated concentration for the conditions within the process chamber. Megasonic energy is then transmitted to the substrate. The cleaning solution provides protection from damage resulting from the application of megasonic/acoustical energy. The invention is not limited to carbon dioxide but can be used in conjunction with any gas that, when so dissolved in a cleaning liquid, protects substrates from being damaged by the application of megasonic/acoustical energy.

A method and system of distributing massive voiced publications to individual subscribers is described; The distribution system is constructed by: a transmission system including encoders, amplifiers, FM transmitters and other necessary equipments; some receiver devices; each receiver device has a unique identification number, a decoder and a saving unit that can automatically save the publications to a physical memory or a hard disk. The transmission system broadcasts massive voiced publications with identification numbers together; Amount of identification numbers of receiver devices can be up to millions or just one only; Receiver devices individually receive, decode and save the subscribed publications automatically.

A wafer cleaning method and system including a combined high frequency signal, a low frequency signal, and in one embodiment a biased voltage signal, allows cleaning particles and impurities off of fine-structured wafers, through application of an acoustic field to the wafer through a cleaning liquid which fosters micro-bubble formation for effective cleaning while buffering micro-bubble growth which would otherwise damage the wafer.

Systems and methods for data analysis and trend prediction. Multiple networks are combined for analysis to improve the accuracy of the evaluation by broadening the type of criteria considered. Relevant features are extracted from a dataset and at least one network is formed representing various relationships identified among the items contained in the dataset according to heuristics. Statistical analyses are applied to the relationships and the results output to a user via one or more reports to permit a user to evaluate each of the items in the dataset relative to each other. The trend of the relationships may be predicted based on the results of statistical analysis applied to the features over successive discrete time periods.

The present invention provides a megasonic cleaning apparatus configured to provide effective cleaning of a substrate without causing damage to the substrate. The apparatus includes a probe having one of a variety of cross-sections configured to decrease the ratio of normal-incident waves to shallow-angle waves. One such cross-section includes a channel running along a portion of the lower edge of the probe. Another cross-section includes a narrow lower edge of the probe. Another cross-section is elliptical. Another cross-section includes transverse bores originating in the lower edge of the probe. As an alternative to, or in addition to, providing a probe having a cross-section other than circular, the present invention may also provide a probe having a roughened lower surface.
