Abstract: A system for assisting a rescuer in providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) chest compressions includes a motion sensor configured to generate motion sensor signals indicative of chest motion and a defibrillator. The defibrillator includes a processor and a display screen configured to provide CPR feedback and defibrillation information. The processor is configured to receive the motion sensor signals, analyze the motion sensor signals for features characteristic of a chest compression delivery type to distinguish between chest compression delivery types comprising manual compression, non-automated ACD, and automated ACD, and selectively provide the CPR feedback at the display screen based on an identification of the chest compression delivery type such that the CPR feedback includes a plurality of CPR parameters for the manual compression delivery type and remove at least portions of the CPR parameters from the display screen for the non-automated ACD and the automated ACD compression delivery types.

Abstract: A computing device includes a memory configured to store instructions. The computing device also includes a processor to execute the instructions to perform operations that include providing an alternating electrical signal to a patient through at least a pair of electrodes, and determining transthoracic impedance of the patient from a measurement associated with the applied alternating electrical signal. Operations also include identifying, from the transthoracic impedance, a sequence of resistance values for controlling the discharge of a charge storage device located external to the patient, and controlling the discharge of the charge storage device using the identified sequence of resistance values.

Abstract: Systems and methods of processing raw electrocardiogram (ECG) waveform data of a patient into estimated real-time ECG waveform data. The method includes sensing at least one physical non-cardiac influence on the raw ECG waveform data, constructing a time domain computer model of the at least one physical, non-cardiac influence on the raw ECG waveform data, and adaptively filtering the raw ECG waveform data in the time domain using the constructed time domain computer model of the at least one physical non-cardiac influence on the raw ECG waveform data to form the estimated real-time ECG waveform data. The system can include an ECG device for collecting raw ECG waveform data, at least two ECG electrodes positioned on the patient and electrically coupled to the ECG device, and a processor coupled to the ECG device and configured to compute a time domain model of an artifact created by chest compressions.

Abstract: A system for monitoring performance of a resuscitation activity on a patient by an acute care provider is provided. The system includes: a first wearable sensor configured to sense movement of a first portion of an acute care provider's hand; a second wearable sensor configured to sense movement of a second portion of the acute care provider's hand; and a controller. The controller is configured to: receive and process signals representative of performance of a resuscitation activity from the first sensor and the second sensor; identify from the processed signals information indicative of at least one of a relative distance, a relative orientation, a change in relative distance and a change in relative orientation between the first sensor and the second sensor during performance of the resuscitation activity; and determine at least one resuscitation activity parameter based, at least in part, on the identified information.

Abstract: A system for assisting a user in performing chest compressions includes: at least one input device for providing information representative of a plurality of physical features of a patient; at least one chest compression sensor; a feedback device for providing chest compression feedback for the user; and at least one processor. The at least one processor is configured to: receive and process the information representative of the plurality of physical features of the patient to determine a target chest compression criterion for the patient, receive and process the signals indicative of the chest compressions from the at least one chest compression sensor to calculate at least one chest compression parameter, determine whether the at least one chest compression parameter meets the target chest compression criterion, and cause the feedback device to provide an indication for the user of whether the chest compression parameter meets the target criterion.
