    摘要: A method for forming a domed space frame, comprising assembling and pivotally interconnecting plural longitudinally extensible elongate elements into a planar grid frame array; pivotally anchoring ends of the elongate elements at the grid frame periphery; securing a gas-tight flexible extensible membrane to the grid frame; anchoring the membrane around the periphery of the grid frame in a gas-tight manner; and introducing pressurized gas under the membrane to inflate it and thereby raise the grid frame into a domed configuration, with a consequential extension of the elongate elements. When each elongate element has extended to a predetermined ultimate length, an arresting means associated therewith becomes operative and prevents any further change in the length of that elongate element. When all the elongate elements are so arrested, the gas pressure is released from beneath the membrane, and a self-supporting domed space frame is then available for use.

    摘要: A manner of constructing a geodetic dome which is not labor-intensive and does not require skilled labor is disclosed. The joints for the dome structure each include a spool having an outer surface with a radially projecting circumferential spline. The beams which form the skeleton of the dome have ends which abut the outer surfaces of the spools and engage the splines to prevent movement of the beams axially with respect to the spools. The beams are retained against the spools to prevent movement of the beams radially with respect to the spools. Panels can be inserted in grooves formed in the confronting surfaces of the beams to complete the dome structure.

    摘要: In a building construction having adjacent wall panel sections which are joined together at an exterior angle exceeding 180 degrees, an improved means is provided for supporting and joining the wall sections. A metallic channel member forms a portion of the joining edge of each wall section. Each channel member has one side wall which is bent inwardly towards its base section, and this inwardly bent side wall is secured underneath the exterior panel member so that the base section of the channel member in cooperation with the joining edge of the exterior panel member forms a substantially continuous joining surface.

    摘要: The invention relates to a dome-type structure constructed from four basic triangular structural units. Each basic unit is an isosceles triangle which has predetermined angular edges. The four units are interrelated in their dimensional sizes and angular edges. The several units are installed in four circular tiers whereby abutting adjacent units fit together properly, and whereby upper tiers are canted inwardly to enclose the structure. The structure requires no internal support members. The radius of the circular base is greater than the height of the structure.

    摘要: A building module is formed of a first plurality of isosceles triangular members forming a roof and a second plurality of isosceles triangular members forming walls which support the roof. In one embodiment, some of the triangular members are right triangles and each of the remaining triangular members have two sides which are three-fourths the length of their third side. In another embodiment, all the triangular members each have two of their sides equal in length to three-fourths the length of their third side. Also, each of these embodiments can be combined to produce larger units and can be combined with a partial cubical form to provide vertical walls.

A plurality of flat polyhedral plates are sealed together along their edges to provide an undulated cylindrical shell.
