Transparent elements useful as supports for photographic image-carrying and/or image-recording layers are provided comprising a polymeric film base having an anti-reflection coating on one surface. Image-carrying and/or image-recording layers may be coated on the opposed surface. Such transparent supports are particularly useful in photographic products wherein the final image is formed by multicolor diffusion transfer processes using dye developers or other image dye-providing materials. In the preferred embodiments, the photographic image is an integral negative-positive reflection print. Where photoexposure is effected through a transparent support, e.g., the transparent support through which the final image is viewed, provision of an anti-reflection coating on said support and effecting photoexposure therethrough will permit more effective recording of light passing through the camera lens.The polymeric film base of the transparent element has an index of refraction of at least 1.6, and the anti-reflection coating comprises a fluorinated polymer and has an optical thickness of a quarter wave.

Photographic diffusion transfer film units are disclosed which include a polyethylene glycol. In preferred embodiments, the film units utilize dye developers to form multicolor transfer images. In a particularly useful embodiment, a solution of polyethylene glycol is utilized to laminate two sheets in face-to-face relation. A processing composition is so positioned that application thereof effects delamination between the layers laminated together by the polyethylene glycol. Dye developer transfer film units containing polyethylene glycol initially positioned in the processing composition and/or in the laminating layer give improved photographic results.

A color developer scavenger layer comprising a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a nondiffusible coupler which is capable of forming an immobile product upon reaction with oxidized color developer is useful for reducing background stain in a dye image-receiving element of a color diffusion transfer system utilizing immobile couplers which form diffusible dyes. Various timing mechanisms are described for making the scavenger layer operative only after substantial development of the photosensitive element.
