    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of producing an electrophotographic photosensitive member in which the amount of an organic solvent to be used for a coating solution for a charge transporting layer is reduced, and the stability of the coating solution for a charge transporting layer after preservation for a long time is improved, enabling formation of a charge transporting layer having high uniformity. The method includes: preparing a solution containing a charge transporting substance, a resin having a carbonyl group, and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by the formula (A), a compound represented by the formula (B), a compound represented by the formula (C), a compound represented by the formula (D), and a compound represented by the formula (E); dispersing the solution in water to prepare an emulsion; forming a coat by using the emulsion; and heating the coat to form a charge transporting layer.

    Abstract: An objective is to provide an organic photoreceptor exhibiting high sensitivity, suitable for exposure to a semiconductor laser having an emission wavelength of 350-500 nm or a light emitting diode, with which generation of memory images as well as image defects caused by very small charge leakage is inhibited, and also to provide an image forming apparatus fitted with the organic photoreceptor. Also disclosed is an organic photoreceptor possessing a charge generation layer and a charge transport layer provided on a conductive substrate, wherein the charge generation layer contains particles made of a condensed polycyclic pigment, having an average major axis length of 500 nm or less, an average aspect ratio of 2.5-5.0, and an aspect ratio variation coefficient of 16% or less.

    Abstract: Subjects for the invention are: to provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which has excellent electrical characteristics and which, even when repeatedly used over long, can stably form high-quality satisfactory images having high resolution; and to provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor cartridge and an image-forming apparatus each employing the electrophotographic photoreceptor. The invention provides an electrophotographic photoreceptor for use in an image-forming apparatus comprising a charging unit which charges an electrophotographic photoreceptor, an exposure unit which exposes the charged electrophotographic photoreceptor to light to form an electrostatic latent image on the electrophotographic photoreceptor, and a developing unit which develops the electrostatic latent image, wherein the electrophotographic photoreceptor comprises a conductive substrate and a photosensitive layer and the photosensitive layer contains a compound represented by the following formula (1). The photoreceptor is further characterized in that the exposure unit has an LED, or that the electrostatic latent image has a resolution of 1,200 dpi or higher, or that the electrostatic latent image is developed with a toner and the toner has an average degree of circularity as determined with a flow type particle image analyzer of 0.94-1.00, or that the image-forming apparatus is of the full-color tandem type.
