Abstract:
A system and method for providing a plurality of options to a mobile telephone user based upon the user's prior activities. The present invention includes an “action input,” the actuation of which results in a menu of previously performed activities by the user. For example, the menu can display activities that frequently occur at the same time each day. The device software can automatically update and arrange the respective options based upon the user's activities.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for controlling a mobile terminal having a first wireless interface for cellular communication in a mobile telecommunications network and a second wireless interface for non-cellular wireless communication, such as wireless local area network (WLAN) communication, in at least one frequency band. In the mobile terminal, the following steps are performed. Information is received from the mobile telecommunications network, and the information is processed. Then, based on an outcome of the processing of the information, the second wireless interface is disabled from wireless communication in at least one frequency band.
Abstract:
Multicast/broadcast messaging service (MBMS) arrangement, in which a broadcast/multicast service centre delivers multimedia messages to a plurality of users via a gateway GPRS support node (GGSN) and via a serving GPRS support node (SGSN) and a radio access network (RAN), in association with a given temporary mobile group identity (TMGI) and using a single radio access bearer (RAB). Responsive to a given event, the SGSN sends to the RAN a data volume report query identifying said RAB by the TMGI or another unique parameter. The RAN responds with a data volume report that indicates the amount of unsent MBMS data. If so agreed, the SGSN will pass said amount to a charging gateway for compensation in charging for the MBMS service.
Abstract:
An apparatus for providing pattern detection may include a processor. The processor may be configured to iteratively test different models and corresponding scales for each of the models. The models may be employed for modeling parameters corresponding to a visually detected data. The processor may be further configured to evaluate each of the models over a plurality of iterations based on a function evaluation of each of the models, select one of the models based on the function evaluation of the selected one of the models, and utilize the selected one of the models for fitting the data.
Abstract:
A system and method for enabling the integration of mobile telephone functions and the UPnP-enabled digital home. In an UPnP control point device, such as a UPnP mobile telephone, implementing the present invention, events such as the receipt of an incoming telephone call or message in the UPnP control point device application program interface can trigger the requesting of different UPnP actions in UPnP devices that relate to the event. In the UPnP environment, the UPnP control point device serves as a control point and transmits instructions to other devices. For example, the receipt of a phone call could cause the volume on a stereo or television to be lowered or muted, it could cause both live and taped television programs to pause, or it could perform other functions. A UPnP control point device of the present invention can also transmit instructions based upon requests received from remote locations.
Abstract:
An apparatus for providing instructions to a destination that is revealed upon arrival may include a processor. The processor may be configured to receive indications of context associated with a user, determine a destination for the user based on the context and user information, provide for a presentation of guidance instructions to guide the user to the destination, and reveal the destination to the user only when the user is proximate to the destination.
Abstract:
A system, device, and method provide for the selection of a device to perform a service using context information for the device. The context information may be included in a request from a control point device to the device or may be included in a response from the device to the control point device. The context information provides additional information relative to the services provided by the device or relative to the device itself. For example, if the device is a camera, the camera may include for each photograph taken by the camera a date the photograph is taken, a time the photograph is taken, a location at which the photograph is taken, a subject matter of the photograph, a temperature at the photograph location, a photographer, etc in the context information. Additionally, the camera may include the current geographic location of the camera in the context information.
Abstract:
A method of inputting a series of characters into an electronic device (1) comprising a display (11), the method comprising: detecting a first input associated with a first one of a plurality of discrete areas (53) of the display (11) for entering characters on the display (11); and recognizing the first input in the first one of the plurality of discrete areas (53) as a first character input (59) while a second one of the plurality of discrete areas (53) is operable to detect a second input for recognition as a second character input (59), the recognition of the second character input (59) occurring separately to the recognition of the first character input (59).
Abstract:
An environment variable for use cases such as UPnP AV use cases. The environment variable of the present invention is used to store the physical location of the user. For example, the environment variable can be used to identify a particular location as being a user's living room, kitchen, etc. The information stored in the environment variable can be used to enhance the user experience of the digital home or other environment by minimizing the number of manual selections that the user has to make in order to initiate a use case such as playing music in a bedroom or watching movies in a living room. The environment variable is used to trigger a change of a profile and select the devices needed to implement different use scenarios.
Abstract:
The present invention offers a snap-shot view which brings together, in one summary window, a limited list of common functions and commonly accessed stored data which itself can be reached directly from the main menu listing some or all applications. This yields many advantages in ease and speed of navigation, particularly on small screen devices.
